Bobby hasn't said this at the Signing Day parties. He always tells me PERSONALLY that each one is the best class ever. People I know INSIDE the program don't speak well of how the players feel about him. If the players aren't defending their coaches.... I don't know how we can.

This sounds like BS to me.

Not that they don't "like" him. No player should "like" his coach, but what about Bobby telling the 5th Years if they came back they would get their entire Master's paid for and then paying for it just during football season? Think I'm lying??? Talk to parent in the program. We can meet up at the next home game and talk about it as well. Just let me know man. I'm not gonna get offended by what you THINK I don't know when I know that I know. LOL

2017 Is here, time to turn the page, just got back from UTC and this was our playoff game to gain national respect in the FCS. No SOCON title or playoffs.Time to play the players who will make a difference next year starting with the QB now .House money is up for BL this year, these kids did not get off the bus, that is coaching.Nothing personal but this was embarrassing on any level.

I don't even know where to start with all this.
First of all, everyone needs to think real hard about the accusations we want to level on here, because my patience for it is going to be extremely thin. If we want to talk about actual issues that are seen relative to football, that's totally fine. I really don't think this is place to level he said/she said stuff about promises to players on scholarships. I mean, seriously? Someone told me, or go talk to some unnamed football parent about it? Gimmie a break. That's a pretty serious thing to suggest. So, here's the deal, if people want to talk about that, that's fine. But name names. Or have someone who's involved come on here and speak for themselves publicly. And, really, it's not even a matter for on here. If what's being said is true, someone needs to go have a meeting with the coaching staff and the AD, and see where it lands.
Next. Is this really a post suggesting we mail it in on this season? Like, for real? We just lost a game to the #3 team in the country and we just need to give up? I played college sports. That's a terrible attitude. And if there are players that feel that way, they should turn in their jersey and helmet and figure out something else to do. Every game matters. Every year matters. You should be out there for yourself, your family, and your team. Record means nothing. A commitment was made to a lot of people. And you fulfill that commitment to the best of your ability, no matter what. Otherwise, just quit, and save everyone else having to drag your ass around for the next 8 weeks.
And are we really talking about sitting our QB? The guy who's worked his ass off, is now a senior, and quite honestly, has been straight ballin' all year. All his career, really. Man, please.
And I call BS on this "they didn't get off the bus, that's coaching" nonsense. At this level, players better figure out how to get their own engine going. I didn't see Coach Lamb miss any blocks today. I also didn't see him short any coverages, or make bad reads, or drop any balls.
It's borderline pathetic to come on here any time a game is lost and watch people turn on the team and the coaching staff. I have no problem with criticizing and talking about what someone might think is wrong, but this is just absurd. Win as a team, lose as a team. Did I mention that they were the #3 team in the country? Yes we got them last year. A lot of things happened for it to go that way. Just like a lot of things happened today to make it go the way it did. The program is 4 years old. Everyone needs to freakin' relax.
And if you really want to get down and dirty, don't hide behind anonymity on the internet or a hidden guest account.
My name is Shawn Arnold. I graduated from Mercer in 1997. I'm a baseball letterman. And I'll say anything I say on here to the face of anyone at Mercer (or otherwise) that I'm talking about. Because it's easy to throw shade when you don't have to be accountable for what you say. And I'm fine with people hiding behind whatever if we're actually talking about something in a respectful and honest way. But we are not just going to flip accusations, or run people into the ground. Everyone involved (players, coaches, staff, admin) works too damn hard to try and make all this stuff great and build a winning program.

Everyone involved (players, coaches, staff, admin) works too damn hard to try and make all this stuff great and build a winning program. Well said Shawn. 8-3 with a decent loss to a P5 FBS Team, a 1 point loss to a Top 10 FCS Team, and a not-so-good loss to the #3 FCS Team just may be enough to get into the Playoffs with the SoCon being the 2nd strongest conference in FCS. 6 more wins will not come easy - there are NO gimmes on the schedule and at least 2 games where Mercer will be underdogs. And there will be people who will say that still wouldn't be good enough to get in the Playoffs. But, if the Bears (Coaches, Players, and Fans) didn't do everything in their power to win each of these next 6 games, I would be very disappointed in each of them and, honestly, I think I would be ashamed to say that I have 'adopted' these Bears since 2012. I talked with about 20 Players and 4 or 5 Coaches after the game today and, without exception, each of them said something about getting after WCU next week. So...despite whatever the _____ it is that y'all are tryin' to say, it ain't gonna happen! Y'all (whoever y'all might refer to) need to slow your roll on all of this negative BS. Bears took a whipping today...that's the END of that story. Next week brings a new challenge and a new opportunity. If you don't think that, please don't show up and please put "I'm a QUITTER" at the top of any posts you make here, so I can be sure to ignore them.

I can't believe I am having to come on here and defend the Bears and Coach Lamb. Simple fact it, Mercer ran in to a highly motivated buzz saw today. Most of it was precipitated by how well the Bears have played the last two years. Coach Huesman was the first to admit that the Bears outplayed the Mocs last season and that gave them a laser focus for the game today. You guys are a 3rd year program and lost to a legit top 5 team on the road. Sh*t happens. It's called growing pains, but you don't throw the baby out with the bath water when things don't quite work out the way you planned. (ok, enough metaphors for one night) Truth be told, Mercer is one of the best "start up" program I have seen, but y'all are still a year or two away from contending for the playoffs. The Bears time will come.

The Bears time will come. Good stuff chattanoogamocs - disagree on your final point though. Mercer contended for the playoffs in 2013. If they had beaten Marist, they would have been 11-1, PFL Champs, and IN the playoffs. Unfortunately...6 turnovers against the Red Foxes quashed that effort. Mercer IS in contention for the playoffs in 2016. I'll choose to believe, until proven otherwise, that yesterday's game was the anomaly and that the 1 point late game loss to highly-ranked, all but certain playoff contender, El Cid, was much more indicative of the Bears' playoff worthiness. Keeping an 8-3/6-2 SoCon Team out of the playoffs would be a travesty - just as it was when the 8-4/6-2 Mocs stayed home in 2013 and when the 7-4/5-2 WCU Catamounts didn't make it last year. While, as I said, Mercer will most likely be underdogs vs. Samford and Wofford (both on the road), there is not a game remaining on the schedule that is 'unwinnable.' JUST WIN, BABY - Every remaining game IS a playoff game!

Agree with FUBear , we still have a lot of football to play in 2016 and winning out should be our goal. I'm actually more upset about the lost to Citadel by 1 point then lost yesterday. Throwing in the towel now is ridiculous . With all that said the coaches do need to address the increased amount of dumb penalties we have been getting this year . It will be hard to beat any team remaining on the schedule if that continues .

Wow, a lot to unpack from this thread. The season is definitely not over. An 8-3 record would most likely qualify us for a playoff berth because of how well our conference has been playing against OOC opponents. Some of the older players may have been unhappy with how their scholarship money worked out, but since the current seniors were not guaranteed any money when they decided to come to Mercer, I would be a little surprised if they truly thought they were getting a raw deal. Onto the actual game. I think this was an overall team loss. I'm not sure if we thought we were just going to roll in Chattanooga and win, but there almost seemed to be a state of shock that Chatt was straight kicking our ass. I think we've seen that this team plays its best when they're hyped up and on the attack. I don't know what it takes to put them in that mindset for a complete game, but without it, they are very beatable. Now I did like most of what I saw out of the team in the second half. These guys aren't going to quit, but that sense of urgency needs to be with them the whole game

Hard really to find a weakness. Probably last SoCon team I saw that I thought had a legitimate shot to play for a national title was Georgia Southern's 2012 group. The conference has produced some "good" teams in the past few years, but no one that I thought could stand toe to toe with a team like NDSU.
