I watched a little tape on Devezin and he is a LOAD. Isn't Etowah 7A? He's got some monster stiff arms on his highlight tape. And runs through a lot of contact, in the big boy classification. Love that.

Love that. Yes - and he's been a Starting Varsity player since he was a 9th grader for a physical, well-coached, GHSA Playoff-quality Team that focuses on RUNNIN' THE DANG BALL and is/has been in a competitive region with Roswell, Lassiter, Cherokee, Walton, Woodstock, Milton and such. Lots of experience with the football in his hands playing against college-level talent. I would say that with the addition of (GT Transfer) CJ Leggett, the return of (All-SoCon) Tee Mitchell, the (expected) signing of Devezin, and, (hopefully) the healthy return of (All SoCon) Alex Lakes; the RB position has been/will be restocked for Mercer in 2017. In other words, I don't think Mercer's QB is going to need to carry the ball 41 times in a single game, nor will the Bears have to move a Linebacker or 2 to RB just to be able to run their Offense.

From GwinnetPrepSports.com "Peachtree Ridge’s Ashley staying close to home Zane Ashley gave himself a nice birthday present on Wednesday. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete committed to Mercer. He played both safety and receiver for the Lions this season, recording 98 tackles, one interception and 23 catches for 430 yards and six TDs. He will play safety for the Bears. He has a 4.0 grade-point average and held offers from several Ivy League schools. Appalachian State, Furman, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern were all in the mix as well. “I know I can go right away and play as a freshman,” Ashley said. “They had three safeties graduate this year, so there’s not a lot back there. I like the degree that is has to offer. I’m thinking about majoring in finance and you can’t beat a Mercer degree in Georgia. I also liked that it was close to home. I’m a big family guy, so having them close and being able to go to all the Southern Conference games is nice. I really like what Coach (Bobby) Lamb is building. We play at Alabama and Auburn this season, so I really like that. I want to play (Alabama quarterback) Jalen Hurts tomorrow if I could.” He will still take an official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend."Young men from "The Ridge" rarely lack confidence. I like it.

Not rocket science, but what I love about this list is we all knew where we thought the need to replenish would be based on who was graduating. OL, S, and RB. And you can tell by the commit list they went exactly after what was needed.
