Saw a video on Facebook but it wasn't clear to me that the construction is 100% complete, but it likely will be by game time.
I am thinking this is a good weekend to make my way to Macon to watch some baseball.

Saw a video on Facebook but it wasn't clear to me that the construction is 100% complete, but it likely will be by game time. I am thinking this is a good weekend to make my way to Macon to watch some baseball. When the new back entrance to Mercer was running behind schedule and cutting it very close to be ready before students arrived and the football opening game, I stopped by on a Saturday or Sunday to have a look. President Underwood was there watching them CLOSELY. I had a (very candid) conversation with him about their progress and prospects for on-time completion. While I won't post any actual quotes, all I can say about the on-time completion of the Baseball Stadium is...IT BETTER BE! Gotta love that guy - Chicago TOUGH and Southern genteel all wrapped in the same package. If the weather forecast improves, me and the Mrs. (let's call her, UGaBeAR) are planning to take a drive down to Maconga and catch the Spring Football Skirmish at 11:00 AM, the Baseball Game at 2:00, then a nice dinner in downtown Macon, and head back up to the ATL. BTW - SB, thanks for keeping up the posting on here. BearDownMU has told me that tons of people are viewing this Board, but just don't post very often. I guess MU peeps are just the strong & silent types...like me.

MACON, Ga. - Matt Meeder was 4-for-6 with 2 doubles, three runs, and three RBIs as Mercer overpowered Maryland Eastern Shore, 13-2.
HAVE A DAY #6!......from.......Roswell

Stadium not ready. Construction continues. Yep - was there yesterday. Much left to be done. I guess it's supposed to be ready for the Grand Opening vs. UGa on Tuesday night, but I don't think it will be. I guess it's possible that people could be seated in the stadium by Tuesday (which they were not this weekend), but there is no way that the Press Box is going to be finished...from what I saw. It's going to be a fantastic facility; just wish it could have been ready for the season's opening games. Oh well - Right Field grass was nice once the sun came out and the Bears seem to be playing well; although I'm not certain of the level of competitiveness of Maryland-Eastern Shore.

THEY SAID IT... Am watching the Bears on the ECU Broadcast (7-7 Top 7th vs. the #8 Pirates, BTW)...and they have spent this half inning interviewing ECU WR & NCAA record-holder for # of receptions, Zay Jones, about his NFL prospects. Mr. Jones sounds like a highly intelligent, humble-yet-confident, fine young man, BUT he did say this... Announcer: So, you're throwing out the 1st pitch tomorrow. Just remember that mound is farther away than it looks.
Jones: I know. I asked one of the Pitchers, "How far it is, like 20 yards or something?"...and he said it's 60 feet...and I was like..."Wow, that's A LOT further than I thought!"
I guess they don't teach the Metric System at ECU anymore...

I watched the games yesterday, what an awesome day for the Bears!!! Moved to 16-4, added a couple quality wins, and can go for the sweep on Sunday.
This Mercer lineup is stacked. The pitching is also right at the top of the SoCon too.
