Jacksonville U's GAME NOTES - JACKSONVILLE AT MERCER...A Couple of excerpts...
"Series History - The teams’ first meeting took place in Macon, Ga., in the 2013 season where the Bears won, 45-42 … Jacksonville held a 35-24 advantage with less than two minutes to play in the third quarter"...and your point is? "SPREAD, NOT TRIPLE - Jacksonville’s offense should be referred to as the “spread option”, not the “triple option.” The triple option is just one play that can be run from the spread option."Looking forward to watching Mercer's D STONE Jacksonville's TRIPLE OPTION; just like they STONED Wofford's and El Cid's* TRIPLE OPTION last year. * except for the 2nd play of the game

Hope a "STONED" leads to a win this time around. I believe we are defeated against D-1 teams that run an option offense. Also looking at their roster, one guy kinda stands out: Mike Williams, 6-5 330 DT transfer from Villanova. Guys up front should be able to handle him though.

I guess he'll be anchoring JU's OL also, since he is listed as the Starting Center...Do fish like to be anchored? & Mr. Tyler Threatt, formerly of UNC-Pembroke, does not appear on the Fish's 2-Deep or Alphanumeric Roster... 5 Daniel Thompson DB Fr. 5-11 180 Goose Creek, Fla. / Stratford NO THREATT HERE72 Chris Tremblay OL So. 6-0 285 Naples, Fla. / Naples

Mercer 27 - 0 almost halftime.
I like #1 Riley withQB decisions. Able to run and looks good on the short passes. #87 Walker and #8 Irvin looking good as expected catching the ball. #27 Lakes has been solid at RB. Would like to see #28 Mitchell more on the edge rather than up the middle.
A couple good 1st Q plays from Riley to #13 Curtis. "the Calhoun Connection"

3rd Q One long pass by Riley for an INT One long pass by Riley for a TD to #4 Graham. A true Freshman. He has some wheels. Beat the coverage by 5 yards.
#28 has a few good carries that displayed his explosiveness.

Instant replay gets it first chance. Good over calll on fumble, but why no TD? Can you not advance a fumble?

48-0 end of 3rd. Mercer playing better than expected by most. Riley looking pretty good at QB. Actually excellent for a R-Fr. only one mistake on INT. Running the ball well #7 Leggate with a couple good carries.

First downs at end of 3rd: I think I heard the announcer say 22-5 Mercer. Jax was clearly overmatched. These 2 teams were nearly even 4 years ago. IMO it shows you how far the Bears have come.
