Let's see what the Crimson Tide fans are thinking...
Remember, Auburn escaping with a win over Mercer that they didn't seal until the last 4 minutes of the game, was about 9 weeks ago...so, well out of memory range for the typical FBS Football Fan.
Also, remember that same Auburn Team, who barely escaped the upset by Mercer, thrashed Mississippi State by 39 points.
Alabama barely escaped from those same MissState Bulldogs by 7.
So, apparently, Auburn is about 32 points better than Alabama, but only about 14 points better than Mercer.
So...the way I see it, Mercer should be favored by about 18.
Here's how the folks in Tuscaloosa see it...
TOPIC: How much do the starters play? Do they get a whole quarter or half?
* "As banged up as we are I'd be in favor of the starters playing as little as possible, especially if we get out to a quick lead, as we should."
* "Jump out to a 35-0 lead and put the 2nd string in."
* (Responding to the blurb above) "Don't think we need to build that kind of lead before the starters sit."
* "I think they play the starters long enough to work on what ever they want to work on, and build a nice lead."
* "I agree on playing Tua [backup QB] minimum 2 qtrs, maybe 3."
* "Mercer will show us nothing our scout team can't show us."
* "I'm good with starting the third string."
* "I say we trot the starters out for the first TD and then mass subs ala NCAA Football (the video game) style. Especially on defense in the back end."
* "To me, we need to use this as a "Bye week"...The Mercer game means absolutely nothing. Play the two's, win 31-10."
* "If I were Saban I’d treat this as a JV game in the sense that I would only play the 2’s and 3’s."
