James Madison over Stony Brook by 13 Southern Utah over Weber State by 3 Northern Iowa over South Dakota State by 6 Central Arkansas over New Hampshire by 24 Jacksonville State over Kennesaw State by 13 Sam Houston State over South Dakota by 7 Furman over Wofford by 10 North Dakota State over San Diego by 31 ......so... assuming we know... Round 3 would be... Southern Utah @ James Madison Sam Houston State @ Jacksonville State Northern Iowa @ Central Arkansas Furman @ North Dakota State James Madison over Stony Brook by 13 - Actual - JMU by 19...not bad Southern Utah over Weber State by 3 - Actual - Weber by 17...yuck Northern Iowa over South Dakota State by 6 - Actual - SDSU by 15...yucky Central Arkansas over New Hampshire by 24 - Actual UNH by 6...yuckysquared Jacksonville State over Kennesaw State by 13 - Actual - KSU by 10...yuckycubed Sam Houston State over South Dakota by 7 - Actual - SHSU by 12..better Furman over Wofford by 10 - Actual - Wofford by 18...yuckiest North Dakota State over San Diego by 31 - Actual - NDSU by 35...way to finish strong! 3 of 8...awfully sad...BUT...the same number that the sharps got right. So...Quarterfinals... Weber State @ James Madison (1) James Madison -11 | Under 38 Kennesaw State @ Sam Houston State (6) Sam Houston State PICK | Under 64 New Hampshire @ South Dakota State (5) South Dakota State -18 | Under 49 Wofford (7) @ North Dakota State (2) North Dakota State -21½ | Under 43½ So...in the Semi-Finals, the Slickers see... KSU or SHSU @ NDSU SDSU @ JMU (clearly!) I see JMU easy over Weber, SDSU routs UNH, NDSU over Wofford (because of the FargoDome. Wofford wins at home or on a neutral field)...and, in a surprise that I hate, KSU over SHSU. SHSU is not going to like KSU’s brand of Football at all & KSU has a good pass D....So FUBeAR is pretty much in line with the Bent-Noses this week, then. Then the Cinderella Owls also fall victim to the FargoDome, JMU slays the Jackrabbits and we have a Final in Frisco that we probably could have just started the Season with and saved everyone a lot of trouble...just kidding. No idea (yet) who wins that Heavyweight bout. In Semi-Pro, I see UGA & Clemson in a SLUGFEST where the winner will be the Team that is least ’attrished’ |

North Dakota State ran A-Gap Power 963 times, rolled up 6,521 yards rushing, and beat the internal organs out of Sam Houston 55-13. I believe the score could have been 655-3 if the bizuns wanted it to be. We picked that one right! Also, South Dakota State turned the ball over on 17 of their 1st 18 possessions and had their cotton tails chewed off by the James Madison Dukes, 51-16. I believe that one could have been 510-10 if JMU desired. We picked the winning Team correctly in that one, but going with the reputation (deserved???) of the MVFC, we thought it might be close. It wasn't, not by any means. Very disappointing SemiFinals games - not a good look for FCS either...dangit! That said - we have the matchup in the finals that most everyone expected - Defending Champion, James Madison vs. the deposed (by JMU in the 2016 semi's) 5-time consecutive FCS Champions (2011-2015), North Dakota State. IF the reputation of the MVFC was still intact in my mind - It's NOT...as the SDSU Team that JMU deconstructed actually beat NDSU in the regular season - I would say the bizuns win going away. But now, I need to think about it. Early line is: North Dakota State -3 | Over 43 - so, NDSU, 23-20. I can go with that for now, but will think about it some more between now and Saturday, January 6, 2018 12:00 PM |
