What are the thoughts from the MU fan base about the Western Carolina game? 42-24 Bears I underestimated how bad WCU was and for that I apologize. |

Damn, the Bears are doing to the Cats what I thought the Cats would do to the Bears. My hats off to Mercer, we totally underestimated your team. Bell did not have our guys read in any shape or fashion to play today, just saying "getting out-coached" is an understatement. Yes, yes it is quite an understatement…because they were also outplayed by better Players. Mercer has better Players that played harder than WCU’s Players. You really thought WCU was capable of beating Mercer like that? You need to watch more Football. Oh…and saying your “hat is off,” to a Team, but then blaming the curb-stomping just received on your own Coaches’ failures doesn’t having anything to do with actually ‘taking your hat off’ to the opponent. Mercer’s Players are better than WCU’s Players, outplayed, and played harder than WCU’s Players. Mercer’s Coaches are better than WCU’s Coaches and out-coached WCU’s Coaches. To be fair… WCU is a better Football Team than they were in 2021. WCU is a far better Football Team and far better Coached than they were previously. WCU’s Players played a hard, clean game today. They did not quit. They played with pride until the final whistle. The truth may be hard to accept, but FUBeAR has heard it will set you free. Be free, cat fan. Be free. |

I had said we would probably learn a lot about both teams, and we did. I knew Mercer was good, I just thought Western was better than what we put on the field today. It was very “deer in headlights” for the Cats from our opening INT. Needing to be mistake-free we were anything but - and that is because Mercer punched us in the mouth and we absolutely were not ready for either side of the ball.
I think Western is better than what we showed, but I think Mercer is a top-8, seeded team come playoff time. Good luck the rest of the way, and I hope you make a deep run into the playoffs to make the SoCon proud.

All you did was poop on WCU’s Coaches. That doesn’t even rise to the level of a backhanded compliment. FUBeAR’s post, which you have characterized as a ‘put down,’ includes much more of a compliment to WCU’s Players & Coaches than anything you “humbly” said about Mercer’s program, Coaches, or Players…because you said nothing about them. I underestimated how bad WCU was and for that I apologize. Someone on our board has stated that your visitors' locker room sustained some sort of damage after our game. Can anyone here corroborate that information? Did campus police investigate anything like that? Pretty serious accusation so we'd like to confirm or reject. |

Congrats on a dominating win over WCU. You have a very good team. On the WCU message board, someone posted that WCU players damaged the visitor locker room. Is this true?

This is true. Not just baseless accusations. It was handled through administration between both schools. But the Western Carolina players trashed the visitors locker room before leaving as well as someone went “number 2” on the floor and left it there for Mercer to clean up.

This is horrible news to hear. Very very very sorry and ashamed. Agree with WCU Fan. As fans, we are proud of the way we welcome and treat visiting teams and their fans to Cullowhee. I find it hard to believe that Coach Bell would stand for or excuse that behavior, and I hope that it has been taken care of with disciplinary action on any players and coaches. If as was said however, the schools administrations have discussed and resolved the matter, most of us won't know the outcome. |
