Ole Miss scores in two plays after the opening kickoff. Then Peevy has a 75 yard run on the play. It's 7-7 after 80 seconds of play. lol

Can't cover, can't tackle is a bad combo

Tough to take much away from this game other than we can get a lot better. After back to back road games it will be nice to be home for 2 weeks and anyone banged up has 3 weeks to heal up. Hopefully Morehead and the bye week allow us to fix things and figure out an identity on offense.

SoCon looking very weak through week 1 except Furman and possibly Samford. The weak Mercer win vs North Bama looks a little better after today.

Samford played a D2 school. So hard to say. We all know they are going to score points.

It will all work out. Difficult yesterday, but I would love to see Mercer get the 2 receivers more involved. Very run heavy 1st game and a tad better towards being balanced against Ol Miss. Going to have to open it up more to win the SOCON. They have the athletes, defense is as good as it has ever been. Yesterday was just that, two completely different teams. I think Mercer will be fine, he will have them clicking soon!

SoCon looking very weak through week 1 except Furman and possibly Samford. The weak Mercer win vs North Bama looks a little better after today. I think it's a little early to draw too many definite conclusions. It's definitely disappointing for Chatt to lose to UNA and probably would be smarter for the SoCon to diversify the OOC schedule a bit better, but I'm thinking UNA is pretty unknown given their roster turnover and how close their games were last year. If we look at last season, our best win ended up being Gardner-Webb who a week after our game was 1-4 with the 1 being a D2 team. Also last year Furman was unranked until October 22nd and ETSU was ranked 9 going into week 2. All that to say it is still very early. At this point my biggest takeaways are that we have a pretty good run defense and special teams are costing us. Offense is a big question mark and pass defense has been pretty strong and terrible.

Oh…we’re talkin’ here.
FUBeAR is gonna let an Ole Miss WR, who had 4 TD’s on Saturday, do the talking… starting @ 4:30
FUBeAR loves the Players in the Bears’ Secondary and he knows they can play SO MUCH BETTER than they did on Saturday. If Mercer is going to accomplish the 2023 goals for this Team they will have to.
Yes, SEC WR’s & QB’s are talented, even the Transfers from G5 programs (like the guy in the video)…but so are SoCon QB’s & Receivers. The 2 projected front-runners, Furman & Samford, both have outstanding QB’s (Samford’s is the “FCS Heisman” favorite) and deep, talented pools of WR’s and TE’s. Coverage, but more importantly, TACKLING, will have to be 99% better than it was on Saturday for Mercer to make a run at a SoCon Championship and the FCS Playoffs. That’s just ‘real talk.’
FUBeAR thinks they will and will again perform at All SoCon levels.
