Any one coming to Cullowhee Saturday?
The Bears took the Cats to the woodshed last year, so we're looking forward to this game, even without Reid. It's Homecoming, so come early, enjoy the tailgaiting, as well as the fall colors.
Both teams have a lot on the line in this game.

It’s a trap…they have little people, like magic trolls, in tunnels under their stadium. Ask ‘em or look it up (start here - Local author suggests campus tunnels lived in by Little People) if you don’t believe FUBeAR. If you do go, FUBeAR recommends bringing a rattle from a snake and at least 3 IDF Lady-Commandos.

A lot of the video stuff WCU has been doing this year has been excellent. This one is stupid. Hopefully the Cat’s performance on Saturday will match the quality of this content.

Would anyone expect FUBeAR to throw out a complement, without balancing it out with an even bigger put down?

Keys for the Bears today:
Offense/Special Teams cannot give them short fields. Need to sustain drives and not have catastrophic errors in our own territory.
Defense keep showing up like they have the last few weeks.
Offense needs to score a TD within the first 2 possessions and probably 4 TDs on the day.
Hopefully the broadcast works today!

And there's the catastrophic error for a short field and easy points.

Pretty good first half. Just need to make those kicks or finish the drive. Need to keep it going for the second half.

Had to make it close there at the end. 8 in a row.

Saying Mercer made it close is kind of an interesting take. Make no doubt Mercer ended up winning and scoring more points than WCU. But when the other team gives you 6 TOs and literally 21 points, and we were an offensive push-off for a TD away from making the Bears possibly squirt their shorts, it seems like a whole lot of bounces went your way today.
Both teams should probably be ranked. WCU may limp out of the playoff picture without Reid, and all those bad plays counted (like they do in every game). But in year’s past that would have turned into a rout so Western at least showed some fight in a game that whatever could go wrong did go wrong.
Congrats to Mercer - I hope we both win out and find ourselves getting into the playoffs.

I love this narrative I've seen on like 4 different message boards now that the turnovers were "given". Like WCU players were running down the field and just bounced the ball off their own knees or something and Mercer came up with it. There we no muffed returns. Every one of the turnovers was a pick (and two were good ones. Lance Wise jumped up in the passing lane and Coffee drove on a route and dived to cut the receiver off and pick it) or fumbles where a Mercer defender was in their clubbing or stripping the ball loose. There's a reason they are called FORCED fumbles. Are they mistakes from WCU? Sure. Gifts? Pfffft. Hardly. Those turnovers were earned.

Mercer ended up winning and scoring more points because Mercer IS the better Team. Every point Mercer scored they TOOK from WCU and they EARNED each point by playing better and being a better Team than WCU. You are 100% correct that WCU’s Players, in prior years, unlike this WCU group, would have quit in a game like this one was. WCU is outstanding. The Catamounts are a top 10 Team nationally and certainly in the Top 4 of the SoCon. LET’S GO in the Playoffs! The Catamounts are more than capable of beating any CAA Team, almost every Big Sky Team, and maybe all but 1 MVFC Team, but your Team is not better than Mercer’s Team. Maybe next year the Cats can beat Mercer for the 1st time in almost a decade, but getting back to the Playoffs after 40 years of absence is going to be a significant accomplishment that should be wildly celebrated by WCU fans. Hopefully, Mercer can win out and make their 1st Playoff run.

The offense had three 3 and outs and 2 right after turnovers when they just needed to hold the ball and kill the clock. The offense this year had been wildly inconsistent and without the 6 turnovers we probably do not win that game. Also we're lucky the ball hit the upright in the right spot to have it go through.
