I for one do believe in moral victories. I don't feel down about this season, I don't feel as if we have under-performed, and I sure as heck don't feel like my team is 1-5 in the conference. I am extremely proud of the fight that our younger, smaller, and less scholarshiped team has put up and I am extremely excited about what we are going to do next year. I believe that next year, with one more year of experience and the addition of a lot more depth, we will win these close games and be in contention for the title late into the season.
Furman's trajectory on the other hand has its fan base bitter, which is ok until they came in here and try take it out on us. Citadel's fans for the most part were awesome, Western Carolina's too, but I get the feeling that Furman's fan base knows that the best days are behind them and its only a matter of time before BLamb goes into domination mode. Furman's team has been decimated by injuries, have a coach that they don't fully believe in anymore, and got torn to shreds by Samford and recently beaten by VMI. But hey, they did win the cross country meets this past week; maybe they'll turn into a cross country school...
In summation, proud to be Bear and wouldn't change our position with anyone!

Spare me, please. Furman has played football a long long time. The fan base has seen good years and bad years. Fortunately, our fans have seen far more good years than bad years. Good programs have bad years. This is a bad year.
I suggest, though, as a measure of good faith, that our opponents take out their starting QB, starting MLB, starting S, two best OL, kick returner, punt returner, long snapper, and most athletic defender from the lineup. Let them play with their fifth string safety as well. I would be interested to see if they fare any better than we have. I imagine not.
Furman's got some issues, particularly running the offense. I have never been impressed with our OC. Even last year (a playoff year), our offense was not very good. I can only imagine, though, those inefficiencies are made all the more stark when the roster is as depleted as it is.
It is what it is. Unfortunately, a season that was billed with such promise really just never got off the ground (again, imagine your starting QB and MLB hardly playing but a few snaps this season). We will make it back, though. Always have.

I will agree with your initial point - for a program in its second year, the Bears are doing damned well. We've been competitive with almost all our opponents, we've kept all of our losses but one to within a touchdown or less, and we're making a name for ourselves in the conference and around the region.
Not bad at all.

We will make it back, though. Always have. I'm not going to argue with you (this time) for the most part. FU's injuris have been bad....but a couple of points....#52 is FU's best OLman and he's played just about every snap this year. He is better than the Center FU lost and better than the OT, who is now out. I don't care about All-SoCon Pre- or Post-Season PR/Beauty Contests. If there's one thing I do know, it's OL-play and I have 0% uncertainty in this assessment. Injuries are harder on teams that have less depth - 63 schollies vs. 85...for example, right? You would agree with that, of course? So, following that logic, you would have to agree that injuries are almost 2x (you do the math - best I can do...I'm a liberal arts guy) as hard on a team with only 38 schollies, right? I'm not going to list the Bears injuries now or over the season, but they have had their share (particularly at WR/TE, RB's, LB's, and DB's) and it is (or it should have been) compounded by the comparative lack of depth, right? FU has probably had it a wee bit worse even with the 'compounding situation' at Mercer, but if you think of it in incremental terms in comparison with the opponents, I'm not sure it's that much worse. Despite the 1-5 SoCon record, I think the Bears have handled their injuries with the right mind-set and Player/Coaching response. I'm not so sure FU has done that. They may have...It's a tough call. I do hate to see FU this down (and there must be more to it than injuries)...because once the 2015 season is underway, I will return to supporting FU Football (as my 2nd FavoriteTeam) & hope that FU wins every game except 2 (the MU game and the National Championship Game Re-Match with the Bears) in 2015.
