Help choose Mercer Football's jersey combination this week! The Bears will wear the combination with the most likes, retweets and favorites on Facebook and Twitter, with the winning jersey combo announced at Thursday's Bobby Lamb Coach's Show! Personally, I prefer this option...

I have a feeling the 25-45 Female demographic carried the day for the Lead/Lead candidate...and I don't think it was the uni they were voting for, y'know. BTW - I think Black/White was the Runner-Up and will serve if Lead/Lead is unable to perform its duties. Maybe Mercer's Equipment Staff could be bribed to 'accidentally' pour some bleach in the pre-game laundering of the Lead/Lead 'candidate.' If this was World Cup soccer, that would almost be a given. What y'all think; any chance of an internally led coup?

The problem is Lead is the "in thing" right now. how many lead Uni's across college football have come out in the past two years? I can think of 5 off the top of my head. Tennessee, Texas Tech, Boise State, Troy, Memphis.

But none of those look as hot as OUR lead. The black helmets make it.

Mercer plays college football. Today, college football requires appealing to 18-22 year old young men in a highly competitive market. Teams without a nationally recognizable brand (UGA, Auburn, Texas), are left to try and keep things interesting.
Unique football combinations are an anathema to me. Still, they are not trying to appeal to me. They are trying to drum up interest in high school-aged young men. That target market goes bonkers for cool gloves, lead jerseys, black outs, etc.
Fortunately for Mercer, they have no traditional football look, so they can pretty well do what they want. Furman had made about one significant uniform change in 40 years (going from silver to white) before adding black jerseys to last year's kit. Furman has one of the more traditional looks in FCS football, and I hate seeing those uniforms used less-often. But again, I am not the target market.

If he can play tackle, we can use him.
Kit being the European term for uniform.
