Stole this from SU Dog's Post on the Samford board....apparently, this seems to indicate Vegas does not agree with our WCU 'Writer' friend who picked the Bears to go 2-9. He had this one going to the Gov's - "AP - a toss up, but I give them the nod playing at home" - unless he's revised his predictions (again). FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!
Posted the BIGGIE in the other thread, but decided there might be interest in some of these games also.
Western Carolina by 25 points over Mars Hill
The Citadel by 41.5 points over Davidson
Mercer by 7.5 points over Austin Peay
Coastal Carolina by 15.5 points over Furman
UTC by 7 points over JSU
And again SAMFORD by 4 points over Central Arkansas

I'll take the Bears and give the 7.5 to anybody for just about any amount of money (as long as it's less that $20).

About 1/2 of the guys they should have coming back on their Offensive 2 deep from their final game of 2014 are no longer on the roster, as well as their Special Teams guys. Lots of churn on that roster, except for Defense...I think only 1 of those, who should be back, is not. Wonder if Vegas (and the WCU 'Writer' dove that deep before they set that line/made their prediction?

Behind a stout OLine, Alex Lakes will run for 150 and 2 TDs minimum. #YouHeardItHere

I don't see the Govs staying close in this game.
Still, week 1 games always are a little scary. I know Mercer had a tougher-than-expected time against Reinhardt last season. Might be a little closer than the APU/Mercer game was last season given that the Bears are on the road and teams always seem to get up for their opening home game. Mercer should run away with it, but there are always upsets early in the season.

Mercer by 7.5 points over Austin Peay LOL, 7.5 points is pretty much a toss up. Sorry. The pressure is on Mercer to win, not AP.

And I do not remember a touchdown+ favorite ever being a "toss up", considering there is a 3 point bump for home field generally. So this line is 10+ on a neutral site. But I'm just a Not Smarter Than the Average Bear, so maybe I'm crazy.

BTW - Other games of interest: Stetson by 8 over Webber Houston by 32 over Tennessee Tech Kennesaw by 8.5 over ETSU ...and for us Mercer 'old-timers' Eastern Kentucky by 33.5 over Valparaiso San Diego State by 40 over U. of San Diego Bucknell by 22 over Marist Delaware by 11.5 over Jacksonville Campbell by 10.5 over Pikeville Indiana State by 43.5 over Butler Dayton by 3 over Robert Morris James Madison by 37.5 over Morehead State William Jewell @ Drake - No Line Average for All PFL Games (with lines) in WK 1 - Expected to lose by 21 points (and that's with Stetson, Campbell & Dayton favored to win!) OUCH!! Man, the PFL has really fallen on hard times since Mercer left (said in my best combination of GaSou/AppState fans' accents)

Also, we beat AP 49-21 last year, we graduated (effectively) no one, picked up a full scholarship class and a couple of transfers, and they had the turnover FUBeAR mentioned, and we are favored by 7.5? Something's rotten in Warner Robbins.

FUBeAR, did you let Austin Peay steal that little green notebook of yours will all the double secret gameplans in it?

Think how much money you could make if Vegas gave bettors a 15 (+/- 7.5 pts) 'cushion' on all bets against the spread. Well, actually, you wouldn't make that much because Vegas would be OOB in about 2 days.

This really doesn't matter, but just FYI, Vegas doesn't make odds on FCS games. These lines were published by offshore(but online) casino bookies.
