Hello all. I'm hoping this is the calm before the storm and things will pick up around here once the season gets rolling. I'm seriously considering having a weekly "Pick All the SoCon Games" thread with the best record at the end of the year getting a special "prize". Not sure what it would be yet, but something in the $25-$100 range (that I will sponsor)
But I need to get a feel for whether or not people would be interested in participating. It would be free of charge, just need to make sure people are interested in picking the games every week.
Sound off if you think you would participate.

BDMU I think it's a GREAT idea and if I wasn't so deeply emotionally invested, I would participate. Maybe I can be the resident prognosticator/devil's advocate commenting on folks' picks. I always have the same prediction for the Bears - they will play HARD and they will take the field EXPECTING to WIN the game. I predict they will do that 11 to 15 times this season. From my vantage point, they are 23 for 24, so far - so my projections have been 96% accurate for Mercer Football. Again - great idea BearDownMU - I hope everyone will participate and I will be 'picking on' your picks, but unless I can get a special exemption that I don't have to pick the Bears games, then I can't play. |

Actually, I should have been more clear. The weekly picks would NOT include the Mercer game. Obviously, since this is a Mercer board, I wouldn't want to put anyone in a position of picking against the Bears. I know I'm picking them every week!
So, again, this would be picking all the SoCon games OTHER than the Bears game.

OK, head's up for the Pick 'Em thread forthcoming today.
I've decided not to include the Mercer game. I know for a fact there are family members of players and players that come on here, and I'm not going to create a situation where anyone would want or need to pick against the Bears. It's not good for the competitive nature of the picking (as many people like me would always pick with their heart rather than their head) and in an underdog week, I just don't like the optics of a bunch of Mercer fans on a Mercer message board picking against the Bears.

People are completely free to take a guess at the game. When I start the actual game thread, there will be lots of predictions on the Mercer game every week. I just didn't want to include it in the competition.
