Wow what a fun first half of football that was tonight! Our men were on fire. My son commented that there were 5 kids on Stetson's roster from Savannah (including 2 from his school). I said yep that's probably why Bobby doesn't have anyone from Sav on his roster - it was 51-7 at the time.
So Looking at this week's opponent, it looks like they are a step up from who we played the first two weeks, but not as tough as most of our conference teams will be. My guess is at home Mercer would win by 13. On the road I think this one will be a squeaker. I value the opinions of my fellow posters who are way more knowledgeable than I...

I haven't had a chance to look at anything yet. I'll see if I can stream their game from last week on ESPN3. Massey Rankings have us as a 1 point underdog on the road. I haven't seen the actual lines yet. I'll probably look those up tonight or tomorrow. The lost to Wofford by 20. I know the transitive theory doesn't apply, but I would hope we have a comparable effort, just for my own confidence going in to the Wofford game on October 3.
TTU mustered 274 yards of total offense against Wofford. They threw it 35 times and one receiver, Brock McCain, had 11 catches for 99 yards. The next closest receiver had 3 catches. They had two backs, Ladarius Vanlier and Jared Davis, carry it 10 and 11 times, respectively. David didn't do much but Vanlier had 80 yards on his 10 carries. 8.0 YPC is strong. Wofford also had 3 fumbles.
I'll try to add more once I watch the Wofford/TTU game.

TT is terrible on D and #7 and #27 should have big games. Also, look for #3 to make big plays...again.

So...Watson Brown is the Head Coach of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. He is the brother of former Appy State (and also UNC & Texas) Head Coach, Mack Brown. Coach Brown may be a fine Christian man. He may be a good husband and father. He may be a great role model for his players. He may even rescue puppies and work in the Cookeville Soup Kitchens on a regular basis....but I'm still gonna call him out... First, on his TV Show/Video Podcast (or whatever it is) he said Wofford (the team that just beat his team by 20 points last Sat.) WILL win the SoCon this year: Watson Brown Show - Wofford EditionThen, on the OVC Weekly Coaches Teleconference, he said Tennessee Tech "has a good chance to get everybody on the field to play Saturday night..." against Mercer. So, I'm assuming he expects to 'Clear the Benches' as the Bears did against Stetson last Saturday. Tennessee Tech Head Coach Watson Brown Weekly Media Teleconference 09/15/15So...I thought we should take a look at Coach Brown's Career Record...Yep, see below, that a Top 10 list including all of the College Football Coaches in the entire recorded history of College Football ranked by MOST LOSSES. Coach Brown is #1 on the list...and, with the exception of Colorado School of Mines legend, "Marvelous" Marvin L. Kay, he has the lowest winning percentage of those in the Top 10. He's Lost Long and he's Lost A LOT....Let's hope the Bears can help Coach Brown extend his record and hang #207 on him this Sat. night! Not disagreeing with any thing that you have said, but Watson use to be the Coach at Vandy. In Nashville, a lot of people kinda treat Watson's comments as akin to that odd Uncle that every family has. Just saying.

I think that maybe, as usual, you're over reacting just a tad there FU. Pot meet kettle. I would have to say, at least FUBeAR's comments are grounded in reality.

We have to keep recruiting in the kicking game. We are miles behind other SoCon teams in that department. Tough loss for our Bears!

Mercer out gained TN Tech 417 to 357, but could not convert the Red Zone to TDs. Gave up some big passing plays on D.
