I imagine it is exciting for Mercer fans in these fledgling years. 10,000 fans or so in the stadium and maybe only a couple hundred or less have ever actually seen a real live Wofford football player. Neat to see Mercer welcome all of these "new" programs to Macon and start what will undoubtedly be a long history of football games. Won't be long before all of the Mercer/Wofford games start to run together in your memory Wife and kids are visiting the inlaws this weekend, so I will certainly settle in and watch some of this game. Should be a good one. I'm thinking you need to come by and watch this in person. Would be a fun one to see, but I am going to enjoy the comfy confines of the living room couch.

It would appear that I have a quote in this thread. Wanted to come and wish you guys good luck, and a healthy game on Saturday. Hate to see as many injuries as both of us have sustained thus far. I was the one that said "If we are who I think we are, then we come out and establish both lines of scrimmage....." And I stand by that. Wofford's Lines have done a really good job this season to date even while missing some all conference performers on both sides. Clemson game notwithstanding that is. I feel that the weather will also contribute to the scenario I painted, I could see a grinder of a game being dominated by who can win in the trenches. I would suspect both passing games to struggle in a monsoon.
Also, on a different note, I really respect what you guys have done as a program to date and love the enthusiasm you fans are bringing to the table. Kudos and respect for that. GOOD LUCK GUYS.

Welcome - thanks for comin' over and posting. Love to see folks from other schools post, rather than just lurk. Now, if you do want to talk some junk; that's cool too, but know you're going to get it right back (as I'm sure you would expect) and it's all just in good fun. Can't have thin skin and 'play' on the message boards, but you don't seem like one of those kinds of Cats. Yeah - 38 lifted your stuff from over on the Woffy board without attributing his source or, apparently, attaining your permission for a reprint....but he's a Receiver's Dad, and you know how those guys are. Would love to have a reason to 'bust on' Wofford's players (as a team, never as individuals), but, unfortunately, I don't. The PorchYappers PLAY HARD - every player, every play. They may not all be the biggest, fastest, or most talented (even though many of them have some or all of those assets), but if you watch, you'll never see any of them going less than full speed. Combine that with the discipline they have in their assignments and the excellent technique that they use...and they are / will be a difficult pack for the Bears to beat. Like you, I so wish both teams were at all full strength. I'm not sure of the overall impact for the LittleDogs, but with Lakes, Curtis (probably), Avant (probably), Bailey (new injury - fastest LB), and Brown (maybe) all out, I feel like the Bears are having to play without quite a few of their sharpest claws. A Mercer passing game hitting on all cylinders could provide the difference the Bears need, but I fear the injuries and weather are going to seriously compromise that possibility. You should have a good time in Macon. If you can wander over to the Football Families Tailgate (Business School Parking Lot / Outside of Left Field Foul Line of the Softball Field, we'd love to share a pre-game beverage with you. Come on by!

I most certainly would enjoy a beverage or 2 with you guys, unfortunately I wont be making this trip. Ill be watching via broadcast, I live in KY and get to as many ball games as possible, this one I just didn't get the chance to clear the schedule with work. I also, can definitely mix it up on the trash talking front, however, when it comes to my son and his squad I prefer to keep it genuine and discussion worthy. I leave the trash talk for my other college teams (UK) and pro team (Atlanta Falcons). I try to keep it on the level of reality and subside my fandom as best as possible with my son being a player.
That being said, I really like what Mercer brings to the table. And think you guys have a real nice building program. Ive been looking forward to this matchup all season. Injuries and weather aside, this should be a fun one, plus these games start to mean so much more as SoCon play is upon us.

Was just tweaking an OL fanatic. I didn't think I needed anyone's permission to accurately quote a public internet post, but apparently FUbEAR thinks otherwise. My quote accurately gives you full attribution, so I don't know what that is all about. Maybe FUbEAR is turning over a new leaf and is trying to suck up to the Terrier fans.........nah.

I just can't give you credit for proper attribution. While you did cite the INDIVIDUAL who posted the quote you used, you did not provide the full source (site name and/or URL) information required by this forum (see the style manual under Admin Rules). Most readers would not be able to follow your reference without that information. Don't worry; no up-downs will be assigned as this is your 1st offense. I'm sure you'll do better next time.

I think Coach Lamb having 2 weeks to prepare and having an additional healing week can pay major dividends against us this week. Coach Lamb being very aware of Wofford and our style, we are a "BEAR" to game plan for in a weeks' time, no pun intended, but having that additional time could make a big difference in this game and outcome.
I still feel that our style of play wears down opponents and if we can get a turnover or 2 than it is an uphill battle for most teams. We run the ball and control the line and clock, considering we are 8th nationally in rushing offense and having already played 2 FBS opponents in those numbers is a major indicator. I would think that Mercer has to think that striking first and getting a lead has to be the recipe for success. Playing from behind against a team that takes 12-13 play drives and chews up clock makes most teams panic into turnovers.
Mercer seems to really be balanced on offense. They have a real threat both rushing and passing. Multiple offense with lots of options. I like your playing style. And can see where you guys can pose us some serious issues. I also see where Mercer is ranked 1st on both sides of the ball in the SoCon, that's pretty impressive as well.
Common opponent Tenn. Tech. Wofford handled Tech pretty well in their game and Mercer played even with Tech in a game I feel Mercer let slip away. Seemed like some iffy calls could have been a major factor as well contributing to Tech's win. Although We played at home and you played them on the road also playing a factor. Can't always use common opponents as an indicator just a discussion point.
Looking forward to seeing this one play out. Just trying to throw some discussion points out to you guys, I love this sports talk stuff.

If you'd just register for an account, you wouldn't have to do that, and you could change your logo to a little tiny yappy dog! I was trying to be nice and not force people to register like I had to do to get on to the Wofford board.
