Some better SoCon games this week than the lines would indicate, I think. Happy picking!
Furman @ Chattanooga (-15.5) Samford (-15) @ VMI Wofford @ The Citadel (-1)

Furman @ Chattanooga (-15.5) Samford (-15) @ VMI Wofford @ The Citadel (-1) I'm going to have to think about that Wofford/Citadel game a bit more. Will it be the Citadel team that beat WCU that shows up? Or the one that lost to CSU?

Mercer at Western Carolina - Saturday, October 10, 2015 3:30 PM
Mercer +5½ Western Carolina -5½ Over/Under 56
So....31-25 -ish Cantamounts as the predicted score.
I'll take the Heavily Beat-Up RoadDog Bears to still WIN OUTRIGHT by 2 Scores. Let's say, 38-24.

Furman Samford Wofford WCU Just wanted to see if any of you are making the trip up the mountain, and down to the valley this weekend? If so, I hope you enjoy yourselves, other than the score! There are lots of beautiful drives that I like to share with people who may have never visited the area. So I'll take a minute and share with you fine folks. I will assume that a lot will be coming up hwy 441. If you want something a little different than the typical hwy driving, I'll provide links for a different approach, and some just for fun stuff. This is the back way into Cullowhee, with lots of views. Here is some of what you can see on this drive. Highlands, NC lots of high end food, golf, lodging, spas. In mid Oct. Whiteside Mountain casts a bear shadow over the valley in the evening, that can be seen from hwy 64. A short hike will take you to the top. Lake Glenville This section of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Balsam Gap down to hwy 276, near Brevard, is one of the most beautiful drives around. In my opinion. With views looking down towards Cullowhee from Richland Balsam Overlook. Looking Glass Falls, Devils Courthouse, and Graveyard Fields all have easy little hikes. Lastly, if anyone enjoys a white knuckle drive (car or bike) with some cool stuff, this is a must. Cullasaja Gorge with Bridal's Veil, Dry, and Cullasaja Falls along the way.

Thanks.

Thanks. Fall Color There may be better links out there, but this is a start I guess. According to this, the drives I listed earlier should have good color. Which direction are you coming from, and what are you looking to spend? There are a hand full of hotels in Sylva/Dillboro(close to WCU). Lots of rental cabins to stuff like Balsam Mountain Inn or the Jarrett House. The Highlands/ Cashiers (30-45 minutes south from WCU) area offer lot of B&B type stuff to the Old Edwards Inn. Waynesville (25 east from WCU) is nice. Lots of unique stuff in Asheville (45 east from WCU). Like Grove Park Inn, or Biltmore Estate. Then there is Cherokee (25 north from WCU) with lots of Native American history, and the Casino. You could go way out to Fontana Village. I hope this helps.

I used to work at the the Dillsboro Smokehouse during my time in Cullowhee. It's now the Haywood Smokehouse. I would bet a lot of money that it's way better now.

For those of you coming from south Georgia, if you are traveling up 441 headed to Cullowhee, and want one of the best meals you've ever had, stop in Dillard, Georgia and eat at the Dillard House Restaurant. Many of you may know the Dillard House, but I just wanted to share for those that may not travel up to the mountains regularly. They serve family style, and every time I stop there, it's the best meal I've had since the last time I stopped there. Dillard, GA Dillard is located in Rabun County directly on Georgia Highway 441, Dillard is on the top of Northeast Georgia just 1½ miles from the North Carolina state line. It is less than 2 hours form Asheville, NC, Atlanta, GA and Greenville, SC and just minutes from Highlands and Franklin, NC.
