So do we have a new kicker or were they just giving the back up an opportunity? Per Lamb, the backup was just being given game experience. He said they have had weekly kicking battles in practice, and Jagger Lieb has continually won them. Thanks for the inside scoop Hayes!

What else would you expect a Coach to say. However if there was confidence we would have seen many more fg attempts when we stall at the 30ish. We had a problem. Coaching is solving problems. Maybe they think they solved it last Saturday! Just a outsiders scoop!

Maybe they think they solved it last Saturday! Just a outsiders scoop! It is easy to focus on the kicker as his role is front and center. I, personally, believe that the issues at WCU and Wofford extend beyond the FG kicker. There are about a half dozen non-kicker plays (series) you can point to in each game that if they had gone differently would have provided a "W". So, I'm not buying that the WCU and Wofford games all came down to the FG kicker. If other plays had been called better or executed better, we would not have even needed the kicker to win either game. Just my two cents.

Maybe they think they solved it last Saturday! Just a outsiders scoop! The confidence in the kicking has certainly taken a hit. The Bears went for it twice in the first half against ETSU on fourth down while in field goal range. At this point, it just seems no one has proven to be more effective than Lieb. It will be a situation that needs to improve in the last few games. Unless the red zone offense plays out of its mind like it did Saturday (7/7 in the game), kicking will be a major factor in the remainder of their SoCon games.

Univ of Florida had 200 students trying out for kicker yesterday. ...and 197 of them were suspended for failed drug tests this morning. The 3, who were not suspended, were ruled ineligible as it was determined they were actually the kickers for the Dolphins, Jags, and Bucs hoping to get a pay raise by playing for UF.

As a Dolphins fan, that hurts... Until I realize it's extremely accurate.

As someone who was a college athlete, NCAA Div I experience in any sport is never the same as high school experience. No matter how accomplished you were.
I was those things in HS, too, but my first college inning pitched was on the road @ University of Florida. It wasn't the same. lol

Many Freshman today (2015) have had private instructors at there positions since they were 8th graders. Many High School programs hire off campus/off season instructors for many positions. Young Athletes prune there sports tree early and become a "single sport year round" High School players. They arrive very accomplished and polished at there respective positions. Freshmen are making big differences across the country today. However I could agree somewhat if there were 100k in the stands but not 10k.

Freshmen are making big differences across the country today. However I could agree somewhat if there were 100k in the stands but not 10k. I disagree. Here's an example. Our high school kicker went on to Georgia Tech. Everyone of his kickoffs was through the endzone every single time. He knocked a lot of field goals down as well. He had a lot of extra movement in his delivery and follow through. As his snapper, I worked with him during private sessions with coaches in the offseason. I can tell you that the difference in making kicks at the high school level and at the college level are going to be different animals. Mistakes you can get away with on talent alone are mitigated substantially when the guys across the line are division 1 athletes. Those extra movements are the difference in getting a kick away and getting it blocked. In a vacuum, sure, kicking is kicking. Different set of facts when your talent advantage isn't what it was several months earlier. Just my two cents.
