Great job, Bears! Need to bottle up some of your tenacity and send it up to Greenville.

Awesome game... I got a little excited live tweeting for The Mercer Cluster tonight lol. Also check out the article that I have up above! Great job and great job on the article for the Cluster. Although, I will say Coach Lamb was being generous giving props to the crowd. Well, those of us that were there were trying to give it everything we had. But, the most disappointing thing about today was all the empty seats. Absolutely no reason people shouldn't have turned out for the #3 team in the country. It pisses me off.

I really appreciate it. I tried to get the article up as fast possible, it was a huge game! Hayes and I both predicted that they would win it and win it close. It was time for this team to break through. They have been building towards that for a long time.

Some good things being said about the Bears on Anygivensaturday.com. There is a lot of respect out there for this team, and the outsiders agree that the Bears have been real close. Sure feels good to win a close one.

But, the most disappointing thing about today was all the empty seats. Absolutely no reason people shouldn't have turned out for the #3 team in the country. It pisses me off. Crowd was disappointing. Few are going to want to hear this, but the game attendance likely suffered from Dawg fans staying home (or going to Athens) and competition on TV for big games like Clemson-FSU. Also, I'd wager many folks who might have looked at this game from a walk-up perspective dialed up the weather report and said nope. You move this game to the night slots and you're up against Bama-LSU. There is no perfect time slot for yesterday's game if you take other games into account, which I think you have to when you can. Mercer crowds aren't built on the multitudes of alums .... when we've had really large crowds we had a very good W-L record and the local population turned out well. With the game on ESPN3 you have a harder time making the pitch to someone who really isn't invested in it 100%. My employer (a very large one) was advertising free tickets earlier in the week for anyone who emailed the athletic office. I'd caution that is not a way to please your paying fanbase and in a way it devalues the product.

Fubarred, Mercer better score early, they won't get to make a late run to make it look close like last season. (Mocs are giving up less than 7 points a game in the 2nd half this year) Surprised chattanoogamocks has not come back to gloat after the game last night. His advice to Mercer's Coaching Staff was DEAD ON THE MONEY. I'm sure they appreciated his assistance and are just thrilled that they were able to utilize it as the key to defeating the Mocks. SCORING | 1st Quarter | 2nd Quarter | 3rd Quarter | 4th Quarter | Final | Mercer | 7 | 3 | 7 | 0 | 17 | Chattanooga | 0 | 7 | 0 | 7 | 14 |
In fact, as I overhead Coach Lamb saying to President Underwood last night, "Without that chattanoogamocs guy giving us the scoop, we were thinking that we should just throttle back and try to pull out the victory in the 4th quarter. But we revamped our strategy due to his post on The UMFF and I really have to give him ALL of the credit for our victory."
