These are our attendance numbers this year:
Stetson 11,267 Wofford 10,489 East Tennessee State 9,722 VMI 9,754 Chattanooga 9,527
Anyone notice anything?
I really don't want to be a jerk about this, but I'm really hot about it right now. If there were 9500 people there tonight, I'm the Easter Bunny.
There is absolutely no reason for there to be a declining attendance trend with a team in their 2nd year of scholarship football going toe-to-toe with fully scholarshiped, premier conference opponents every single week. None. I'm exceptionally pissed about this whole thing, especially looking around tonight as I watched our guys play their asses off and beat the #3 team in the country.
And now I'm ever more pissed because I just watched the replay and it looked horrible on TV to have our side of the stands so empty.
No idea what the hell is going on, but there damn well better be a full house for the Samford game in two weeks.
I don't mean to do any horn-tootin' but I live in Atlanta and I've missed exactly 1 home game in 3 years. So we either have to button it up or all those people that have season tickets and don't use 'em need to rethink why they are buying them in the first place.
Rant complete.

The people who are buying season tickets and not attending may think they are supporting Mercer Football and I do appreciate that...BUT they are shortchanging themselves and missing out on the best game-day experience in college football in the state of Georgia and missing out on watching the finest group of young men I have ever known giving everything they have for their school and the the Middle Georgia area. I doubt that any group of young warriors have experienced the disappointments that this group has and has come back each and every week EXPECTING to win, regardless of the opponent. If you put this TEAM up again the New England Patriots next week, they would EXPECT to win. That's a very special quality. The thing that truly amazed me tonight as I 'hung with' 20 or more Mercer players is that each of them were happy about the win, but without exception, expressed that is was really no big deal. They talked more about the previous games where they felt they had let down their fans by not winning than about beating the #3 team in the country. Almost all of them kind of had a 'so what' attitude. "We knew all along how good we are. We just haven't put it together. We're happy about this, sure, but we're very disappointed that we couldn't send these Sr.'s out with a SoCon Championship Ring. Next year's Sr's WILL have one." As I said, they just EXPECT to WIN. It's really amazing - never seen anything like it...well, actually, I have, but that was almost 40 years ago; so I won't go into it. Anyway, I have digressed. Get you assets out to the game vs. Samford on 11/21. We will be honoring a good number of Bears that brought football back to Mercer University and they deserve you being there to honor them as they take the field as proud Mercer Bears one last time. I can guarantee you one thing - they will be EXPECTING to WIN...whether you show up or not...but why don't you join them and send them out with a RING of LOUD CHEERS!

Yes heard the crowd was dissapointing. Sunce I dont live there I was wondering what type of promotion or marketing does MU do to get people to come to the game? IMO - At this stage in the program it has to be more then just football to get a full house. MU needs a hook and once the "new" fan shows up and gets the MU footbvall experience then they will return. Not sure if its give ways, half time shows or end of game comcert but something more the just football needs to be done to draw the full house.
