George Mason lost its home opener to Colgate last night. Colgate was projected to finish last in the Patriot League. This is an A-10 team in name only.
They have a new coach, six lightly recruited freshmen, and one big dude who can rebound but isn't that polished.
Likely will take years before this program can get beyond the Paul Hewitt dumpster fire.
Seriously, why would anyone have hired Hewitt after he destroyed Tech basketball?
Bears win easily, I would think.

Colgate was an equally young team and they easily beat Mason in Fairfax. Bears should win by double digits.

On Masonhoops, someone posted that MU is favored by 6 according to Sagarin.
The Vegas line has MU favored by 5.5

Wow! It has been ten years since George Mason made it to the Final Four. Stayed relevant for a few years. Then Larranaga left for Miami. Then Hewitt happened. Hewitt completely ran the program into the ground. Maybe their AD should have asked someone in Atlanta about Hewitt's lack coaching skills.

I really enjoyed the game last night. Good crowd. I was very impressed with Stair. He is going to be a really good player for the Bears.
If Mason could have had any penetration of our zone, they might have walked away with a win. The Bears will have to play better to beat Alabama State on Thursday.

George Mason just beat Ole Miss. This was a better win than was thought on Monday.

So Mercer has convincing wins against teams that have beaten the ACC and SEC...

And George Mason just beat Oklahoma State. I guess Ole Miss's and OSU's coaches didn't see that a zone can shut them down.

Lot of non-P5 teams beating P5 teams early. Hope the Bears can get their P5 scalps soon.

Thanks for the props guys. The Funny thing is OK State utilized the zone quite a bit in the 2nd half, but we did pretty well against it actually. I didn't see the game against you guys, but I'm shocked after watching the way GMU played the last two games that we lost our first two and by decent margins. Good luck the rest of the season.
