I guess this would not be a good spirit song even though it does have my favorite phrase in it...sorta.

I don't think this worked out too well last game but I also don't think the word got out- not to mention the Ave Maria game was definitely the lowest intensity game yet. I hope that they keep it up until it catches on!

BTW, just watched the Wisconsin rendition and it is amazing... Let me pose this question- if we were to do something new and clever, what song/actions could we do that is creative and catchy???

How about a thing where when a certain song comes on, someone runs up to concessions and gets me a drink?

How about a thing where when a certain song comes on, someone runs up to concessions and gets me a drink? Hope it is that one song (the name of which I forget, but it is a pop song) that was played what seemed like every 8 seconds in the game against Furman. You'd be set with 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

Lol. The song to which you are referring is "Turn Down for What".
Apparently that has been selected as the "It's 3rd Down let's get rowdy" song. And I've heard it other places. I think the Falcons use it for the 3rd down song as well.
After the 37th play, it did get a bit tedious. lol.

Haha, if we could get off the dad gum field on third down it wouldn't be that bad. But that game in particular it was awful and might have just ruined it for the rest of the year- mercer admin take note and please change the song.

It has been neat to watch Mercer "create" its own football tradition. Most of the SoCon schools have their own unique atmosphere, Mercer no exception. For most of us though, our grandpappy was not even alive when some of these traditions were started.
In particular, the Citadel has some great traditions. Cannon fire after every touchdown. My personal favorite is that all of the freshman have to do pushups after every touchdown. Imagine the scene if every Mercer student was required to attend the game, and every freshman was required to leave their seat, go down to the field, and rip off pushups after every Citadel touchdown.
I remember a game against the Citadel back in 04 or 05. Game went into triple overtime. Lot of pushups that day.

App State uses "Hells Bells" on third down (a lot of programs do). No music, just the gong. Would whip that crowd into a frenzy. That was one stadium I always enjoyed visiting. 25-30k fans, into every second of the game, bitter rivals, usually cold in late fall, sound echoing off the surrounding mountains made it deafening.
