I must confess. I roused myself and my wife out of bed at 6am Saturday morning to make the 150 mile trek to beautiful Furman University, home of the mystical and oft salty FUBeAR, in order to support, encourage and defend my beloved Bears in a foreign land. As I arrived and saw the beautiful orange wave that had descended on Lot 9 in Traveler's Rest, my heart was full. I immediately spent time with the Director of the Mercer Athletic Foundation, bummed a beer off the aforementioned FUBeAR, and talked with player's families about how humbled and proud I was of their son's sacrifice and commitment, as well as their own. Immediately following this amazing fellowship was a repast from Tommy's Country Ham House that made me think of my fortune and why, with all the suffering in the world, I have been blessed with such a wealth of riches.
I then watched as the Mercer band arrived in all their regalia, and a pack of hungry Bears departed from their motor coaches and walked into Paladin Stadium through a raucous crowd of Mercerians and supporters. Hours seemed like minutes and it was time to enter Paladin Stadium. After wanting to drink in my first full experience in this storied stadium, it was game time. Shortly after kick off, one of my friends commented about the ongoing competition on the UMMF, and I realized, in my desire to fully wrap myself in the Mercer Gameday experience, I had failed to submit my picks. Without any knowledge of other games, I submitted my picks late, and should their be any, will suffer the consequences of being so fully enthralled in supporting my beloved Bears that I was negligent in a timely submission of picks.
And if loving the Bears so much that your focus is solely on participating in a day of BEAT FURMAN is wrong, I don't want to be right.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe both Ted Bundy and Hannibal Lechter were excellent writers as well.

IDK. It totally undermined my strategy for the week and since I drove 6 hours to Furman, I can't give much sympathy there. But I can attest to the fact that BearDownMU was screaming his head off and supporting our Bears.
