It's a rather long story, but just a heads up to my Bears that post here and also my Catamounts that participate on our board. I have officially stepped away from the WCU message board. I won't participate there anymore.
The moderator of that board believed that when he came over on our board he was personally attacked and based on some of the banter over the last year or so (I guess) he's come to the conclusion that we are "trolls". And any time anything he posts anything about Mercer, it's very clear based on the tone that he is not a fan. So much so that he started a thread about our loss this past weekend to Samford on the WCU board and then suggested we should "temper" ourselves. I guess he's saying that because we lost so badly, we are supposed to quiet down or talk less or something. I don't know what he meant. So I asked him, and I got a passive aggressive response and a posting of the definition of temper. Then was called a troll again.
Anyway, other than him, my interaction with WCU people has been AWESOME. I appreciate all those guys that participate on all the boards. All seem like cool guys and understand these are college football message boards and have the appropriate level of fun. I hope they all continue to come around our board. But, bottom line, based on how the moderator at the WCU board has been the last little while, I don't feel like I or any other Mercer person is really welcome there. So I won't be going back.
On the other hand, for Mercer people or ANY other fans from other schools: I will never tell anyone what to say or how to say it. I also won't be critical of how anyone chooses to attack a topic. I will passionately defend my school, my team, my friends. But you won't see me slapping people on the wrists or trying to mitigate what people say because I moderate the board. I think back-and-forth makes for a healthier, more fun board.
If you go look at the Samford board from this past week. We ribbed on each other, took some shots at each other and went back and forth all week. Everyone knew it was in fun. That's what I hope we can have here.
Happy posting to everyone. THANK YOU all for participating, especially if you come here and are a fan of another school. It was a fun season. Have a great offseason and I can't wait until we kick off again next fall.
