The coaches All SoCon team is out and they are trying to tell me that Matt Shiel isn't the 1st OR 2nd team All Conference punter?
Trash....
Thank God the media got it right and had him as 1st Team All Conference.

Offense | Defense | Specialists | Media 1st Team | Media 2nd Team | Coaches 1st Team | Coaches 2nd Team | Coaches FR Team | Total | Team | 4 | 11 | 2 | 7 | 1 | 7 | 7 | 3 | 17 | Chattanooga | 8 | 6 | 2 | 4 | 6 | 4 | 5 | 4 | 16 | Western Carolina | 6 | 5 | 2 | 5 | 3 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 13 | Samford | 4 | 7 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 13 | The Citadel | 6 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 5 | 10 | Mercer | 4 | 5 | 0 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 9 | Furman | 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | VMI | 2 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 4 | Wofford |
The chart above lays out the Media and Coaches team by team and selection category by category. In these numbers, if a FR was on the All-FR Team and also on the Coaches 1st or 2nd Team at the same position, that player is only included once (in the 1st or 2nd team - not in the FR Team totals). If they were included at different positions (Quinlan Washington, CIT...for example) I counted them 2x. Which brings up an interesting anomaly...how is Mr. Washington the Coaches 1st Team Return Specialist, but not on the FR Team in that role? Always some strangeness around these selections. Speaking of strangeness, I find it most interesting that Mercer was the only SoCon Team to defeat the Conference Champion and either beat or scared the bejeezus out of every other SoCon team (including Samford - who trailed most of the game...despite the final score), yet NOT 1 SINGLE PLAYER ON MERCER's TEAM (other than the Punter - who was recognized as 1st Team by the Media, but scorned by the Coaches) was worthy of 1st Team All SoCon recognition...despite the Offense being #3 in Scoring and in the Top 1/2 of the Conference in Total Offense, Rushing Offense, and Passing Offense (Tied 4th) AND the Defense being #3 in Scoring and in the Top 1/2 of the Conference in Total Defense, Rushing Defense, and Pass Defense Efficiency.
