TWEET: Bobby Lamb @bobby_lamb White on White on White on White! #BDEDWAY WAY COOL in my opinion....Thinking we might see the debut of this look @ Georgia Tech on 9/10/16 ...For any SoCon history buffs out there, Coach Lamb's Alma Mater 1st debuted an All White ensemble, during his playing days, on 10/16/82...and took down an FBS (SEC/South Carolina Gamecocks) Team, 28-23. Thinking maybe history repeats itself in 2016!!

FU vs. USC 1982 was not the first time FU wore all white. I'm shocked a historian of your stature would make such an obvious error and mislead the general public. Vs. Clemson 1979, UNC 1980, Univ of Florida 1981, etc.

FU vs. USC 1982 was not the first time FU wore all white. I'm shocked a historian of your stature would make such an obvious error and mislead the general public. Vs. Clemson 1979, UNC 1980, Univ of Florida 1981, etc. Ummm....THANKS! - What I meant to say is that FU's 1st win over a current FBS Team since 1976 (NC State) was wearing All-White in 1982 @ South Carolina. I apologize for my error. Made for a good story though, huh? To be 100% accurate, FU did not wear all white @ Clemson in 1979 (as you stated), so the actual 1st time was @ UNC in 1980, then @ Florida in '81...And you omitted the All-White opening game @ NC State in 1982....so the USC upset was the 4th time. Again, my mistake. For even more detail, if I'm not mistaken, the reason FU began wearing All-White for those opening day games vs. 'big' schools in '80-'82 was heat-related. The Paladins were at an extreme depth disadvantage vs. those 'big' schools in those days and it was always 100+ degrees on opening day. I know it was 120 on the field @ UNC....After the @ Clemson loss in 1979 (in purple pants), the Coaches felt, perhaps, anything that could be done to keep the players cooler during those games was worth a try...so, out came the white pants @ UNC in '80. After they 'worked' against USC in '82 (which was in Oct...but still warm), FU always wore All-White on the road until sometime in the late 80's, I believe, when they returned to wearing purple pants on the road occasionally until Coach Bobby Johnson returned and reinstated the All-White on the road 'rule' for some time...perhaps throughout his tenure and into and through Coach Lamb's tenure there. I am not 100% of the post-1982 info though...so please fact check me again....about 52 times, just to be sure

I apologize for the mistake on Clemson. That was simply a wrong assumption but I am a simple man. I did not omit the 1982 NC State game as that is presumed in the "etc". Although I assume most Furman fans would like to omit that game from memory.
