Here's what I have pieced together of Mercer's 2016 Football Schedule thus far...1st 3 are set - 3 of the middle 6 are set...and final 3 regular season games are 'wide-open'...
Saturday, September 3, 2016 (or maybe Thursday, September 1, 2016...that would be my 'guess') - Mercer vs. The Citadel - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia Saturday, September 10, 2016 - Mercer @ Georgia - Tech Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday, September 17, 2016 - Mercer vs. Tennessee Tech - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia Saturday, September 24, 2016 - POSSIBLE's - BYE, @chatt, @sammy; FUBeAR's GUESS - BYE (changed guess) Saturday, October 1, 2016 - Mercer @ VMI - Alumni Memorial Field in Lexington, Virginia Saturday, October 8, 2016 - POSSIBLE's - BYE, @chatt, FUBeAR's GUESS - @chatt (2nd changed guess) Saturday, October 15, 2016 - Mercer vs. Western Carolina - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia Saturday, October 22, 2016 - Mercer @ Austin Peay - Governors Stadium in Clarksville, TN (APSU's Homecoming Game) Saturday, October 29, 2016 - Mercer @ Wofford - Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina Saturday, November 5, 2016 - Mercer vs. ETSU - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia Saturday, November 12, 2016 - POSSIBLE's - BYE, @sammy; FUBeAR's Changed GUESS - @sammy Saturday, November 19, 2016 - Mercer vs. Furman - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia Saturday, November 26, 2016 - BYE Saturday, December 3, 2016 - Mercer vs. TBD - Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia (2nd Round of NCAA FCS Playoffs)
EDIT - 1/28 - feeling a little more confident about my changed guesses today... EDIT - 2/1 - what was I thinking? I should never have confidence in my GUESSES! EDIT - 2/4 - FU game set - I was right...for once! EDIT - 2/15 - Right twice..after 1 changed guess...APSU's wants to play the Bears for their Homecoming I see. OK. EDIT - 2/22 - I have it from a highly reliable source that my guesses above are all correct - YAY ME!
I have a hunch the Bears will play @ APSU in 2016. Yes, the Bears went up there last year, but I have a hunch the Men in White & Orange will be making another trip to Clarksville, TN this season and, thus, making 2 LONG road trips. Maybe y'all can donate some CASH and they can fly from ATL to Roanoke for the VMI game this year.
I have a hunch the Bears will play ETSU at Home again in 2016. Yes, the Buccaneers came to Maconga last Fall, but I think they will be headed down the mountains again in 2016.
Your thoughts?

Will the Citadel allow Game #1 to move to 9/1 and give the 'D' 10 days to prepare for the Ga. Southern Wannabee's?

Will the Citadel allow Game #1 to move to 9/1 and give the 'D' 10 days to prepare for the Ga. Southern Wannabee's? I heard a rumor that game could be on Thursday night...but it was JUST a rumor. The Bellhops will still be running their same Triple Option Offense though as they promoted their OC to HC, when their HC decided he wanted to get back to the hills/mountains and away from the sand gnats in Charleston. The El Cid version of the TO is more similar to the GT version than it is different, so the Bears will have all of Fall Camp to get ready for those 1st 2 games. Maybe they can catch the new SamsoniteFumbler's HC in a few 1st game deer-in-headlights moments and then catch the BumblingBees with bellies full of Guiness and jet-lagged after they play in Ireland the week before. If the Bears can come out of the gate and 'steal' 2 BIG Upset WINS, including taking down last year's SoCon CO-Champion & an FCS team, they will be ranked by Week 3...and rankings matter in FCS...whether it's for an At-Large Berth in the Playoffs or Playoff seeding, rankings matter.

Absolutely rankings matter - and that has been problematic for the SoCon really since App and Ga Southern left as the perception by outsiders is the conference is not as strong. It is very hard to move up in FCS without starting out either ranked or at least in the "others receiving votes" category. So the conference as a whole needs to get a bunch of key out-of-conference wins because we seem to all be getting better and it is harder and harder to think about going undefeated or have only 1 loss in conference play.
I came to the WCU @ Mercer game 2 years ago, and hope to make it up (I live in Florida) to the game again this year.

Yeah it do - so join me on anygivensaturday.com in my quest to SELL the SoCon on there vs. the other conferences - CAA in particular rec'd 1 or 2 bids last year that were questionable and the Big Sky laid an egg in the playoffs. I recently posted some very telling stats there regarding the SoCon's performance in OOC games vs FCS/FBS/Like Conferences/Playoffs vs. the CAA's in those categories and CAA peeps came back with arguments about Attendance and Media Exposure...cuz that's all they got - the records and the results speak for themselves, but those compiling rankings and selecting at-large berths don't 'get' that...yet! Just like Rankings matter; perception MATTERS and the most widely read forum where that perception MAY be influenced by individuals is anygivensaturday... If anyone thinks Coaches, AD's, and Journalists DON'T read these boards, I can assure that is INCORRECT. THEY DO. 99.9% of them won't admit that they do....but THEY DO. Here's an interesting fact - If I'm not mistaken...and I don't think I am....CAA Teams were 1-5 vs. NON-SCHOLARSHIP FCS Teams last season. SoCon Teams were 3-0. That's .167 batting against 1.000 - not even close!!! - SoCon won mo' better game than the CAA last year, but the Rankings and Number of At-Large Berths didn't, in any way, reflect that. See what I mean?

See what I mean? Best example is the Citadel, I think. Clearly a top 25 team. Not given much thought in the preseason. Spent months trying to climb into the top 25. Lost to Charleston Southern and everyone laughed them off. Wasn't until months later everyone sort of realized "hey, Charleston Southern may be one of the best teams in the FCS." It is much harder to climb these polls than fall in them. A great deal is perception. Some teams (including Furman) spent undeserved time in the top 25 based on name recognition alone.

Keeping us in suspense? When is it? Added / Edited the post above in Black - the Orange ones are the ones that aren't certain. Not to complain or anything (cause your providing this service for free) but you still have ETSU guesses on your updated posts, which makes it confusing.

So ETSU game is home. I guess that makes sense since in 2014 Mercer only had 3 home SoCon games. ETSU had to fill the fourth home spot in 2016.
