Ballpark Rates? Similar to Hilton Garden Inn (about 30-40% above 'market rate,' if I recall....last time I checked was 2013 though)? I get your point but the "market rate" is what the market will bear. When there is high demand for the rooms, an above-normal rate ensures that those who value the convenience of staying on campus will pay the extra; those who don't value it will stay elsewhere. I paid under $100 per night at the Marriott for Friday and Saturday. Yes - in an Economics context, that's what "market rate" means. I was referring to the GEOGRAPHIC market rates, i.e., typical rates for comparable properties in the Macon area. I believe they were asking $160 or so for the HGI back in '13...which was well above my price elasticity curve. Around $100, while a tad high, is certainly in the ballpark with current market rates...geographically speaking.

I would sleep on Ursus's couch before I'd pay $160 for a hotel room in Macon.

I have been seeing some disappointing posts by Bear fans. As a former player, I can assure you I had many personal disagreements, but I don't know if you will find a better group of men in the country. The number one thing they preach is honesty. I can assure you that while I disagreed with it and sometimes did to want to hear it, this staff was always extremely open and honest to me. While I agree that I would like to see us close out some of the close games we have had in the past, winning football games is difficult. While our players have some of the biggest hearts in the conference, we should be ecstatic we are competing so early. This is a great institution with a great team. Soon, we will begin to see the scoreboard flipping in our way! I am a coach myself and understand the pressure and difficulty that comes with the job. You pour so much in, JUST to get evaluated 12 or so times a year. Anyhow, that is probably the only long and sappy post you'll see from me. I will be the first to admit when I was wrong.Hopefully I can meet some of you guys Saturday.

I paid less for a house on half an acre in Macon than my college roomate did for a 1 bed room apartment in Atlantic Station. Location location location.

Watching while I work. Looks like a really good crowd today. The offense looks so flat. The announcers are talking all about it. Mercer either played way above their heads against The Citadel or way beneath themselves the last 2 weeks. I'm beginning to think it's the former...

Finally. Now that's better. Nice TD catch Sam Walker. But WC is not a good team and Mercer thinks they belong with the top group in the conference. They need to start playing like it.

Bears need to Rep the SoCon against Austin Peay next week. Beat them like a rug and show no mercy. Good luck.
Go Dogs!

Whew. Tale of two halves yesterday. That was a win we needed. Believe it or not, it's still out on front of us.
