Sagarin has Wofford favored by 3.5 with the Bears only a 38% chance of winning. 🤔

The non-conference schedule, to me, has just show us how inconsistent we are. Oddsmakers don't like teams that can't be consistent.

Two teams that appear to have similar lack of success in OOC. However, Wofford has played a very weak schedule. Bears will win this one.

Currently the Bears are favored by 2.5 for the rematch on February 4.
I predict a close loss. Only because that seems to be how most games have ended this season.

They can win this game (as Mercer could have won most, if not all, of their other conference games), if they just rely (trust) their big men to take care of defense in the paint to free up more defenders to closely contest Wofford's perimeter game. Mercer's Achilles heel all year has been allowing opponents to shoot "three's" virtually unguarded. This might work against teams that are weak shooting "three's", but three-point shooting is what the Southern Conferences specializes in, not strong inside play. Ironically, Mercer has one of the stronger set of big men in the conference, yet doesn't play to that advantage.

Cummings went off on Wofford. Career high 22. Nice win.

A sweep of Wofford! Strawberry with 21. Jelks, Ringer and Rivers also in double figures. Cummings only shoots three 3 pointers and only hitting one. Five points for the day. Wofford attemped to stop him from doing what he did in the first game, only to see Strawberry kill them.
The Bears are peaking at the right time. Great senoir leadership. Great job by the coaches.

Good work by the Bears, who end the season looking good. In my view, they end up with the tougher side of the bracket in the SoCon tourney and will have to beat Wofford for a 3rd time to advance. The Terriers tend to bring a lot of fans to Asheville, so it should be a fun atmosphere.
