Yep - Excited to see a Day1 Mercer Bear get a National Championship Ring!

In general, I hate the 5th year transfer rule. But, in this case, I feel nothing but positive about it. Grant was a DGB from Day1. Typically, when a player comes in, he comes in with about 20 guys in his class and then becomes 'blended' with some of the 20 in the class ahead and the class behind as players Redshirt. In Grant's case, he came in with 108 Players...so he only 'left behind' about 15% of those that he came in with...which would equate to about 3 guys in a 'normal' class. So, I, personally, do not view this one as a 'lack of loyalty' situation - AT ALL!...as I do so many of the 5th year Transfers. Everything about Mercer Football has been unique since it cranked up in 2012; so there's definitely a different lens/filter that should be applied to this situation. Even moreso, having graduated in 3 years anyway and having the unique opportunity he did for his entire family to be in 1 place on game days, etc., it made perfect sense for him to make the move he did and it just worked out wonderfully well for all involved. The Bears missed him in 2016 certainly, but I'm sure he was there in spirit and in the dividends his prior 4 years of leadership provided!
