Coach Lamb reported in his presser that Avery Ward returns this week. That is very good news.

2-Deep D-Front (DL & LB's) = 6-1/244 Overall Defense = 6-0/226 Overall Roster Mean = 6-1/227 Overall Roster Median = 6-1/218.5 Teams are similarly sized. Mercer seems a bit bigger on Offense than the Terriers are, although a bit smaller in the O-Line. Wofford is similarly, perhaps to a little greater extent, larger on Defense than the Bears are. What does that mean? Well, while Wofford is widely noted for the size of their Defensive Front, I really don't think the difference is that significant. The outcome of this game will not come down to size. It will mostly come down to Player execution (how well...not how many ), Player 'want-to,' and Coaching decisions. To further narrow that down, I think Mercer will win this game if the Bears Defense makes fewer mistakes than the Woffy Offense....with the caveat that Special Teams play is equal/a wash....BUT, as we know, Special Teams has been a highly significant, if not THE MOST significant factor, impacting the outcome of the past 2 games. So... Don't lose Special Teams and WIN Mercer D vs. Woffy O...and it's a WIN for the Bears! 31-17 Mercer Bears MAUL 'EM

So... Don't lose Special Teams and WIN Mercer D vs. Woffy O...and it's a WIN for the Bears! Â 31-17 Mercer Bears MAUL 'EMI was wrong...(been wrong A LOT this season...so far) Mercer CLEARLY won Special Teams (this year). Mercer D didn't make many mistakes - 2 busts on tackling / pursuit angles on 2 long runs. 1 blown coverage. I'm not gonna count the short stop route completion for a 1st down on 4th & 1 as a mistake. So, 3 mistakes...Am I missing any? The thing was Woffy's mistakes on O...and they sure didn't make many, were 'near-mistakes' that didn't really hurt them - the fumbled snap that Mercer 'almost' recovered; the 'jump ball' pitch straight up in the air on the goal line. Seems like there was another one...Anyway...I'm not sure Mercer's D 'won' vs. Woffy's O, but I am sure they didn't lose. I thought that would have been enough to win because of the clear 'win' in special teams. I just didn't anticipate the 'unforced errors' Mercer made on O....Not counting the fumble as an 'unforced error.' That was DEFINITELY forcefully forced. Not going to list them, but I can think of 9 other 'unforced errors' by the O. I just really didn't see that coming. The good news is that's stuff that is easy to clean up. Don't make those & Mercer beats a Top 10 Team by 3 or 4 scores. Clean those up Bears & I see a lot of W's this year.
