Need to get it back together on O this week.
I KNOW we missed having #38 out there on Saturday. He does a lot that is seen, but also a lot that goes unseen which opens things up in both the passing and the running game. Someone needs to step up and fill that role this week and, IMHO, we need to run OUR offense as if 'that guy' IS #38. He won't be, but we need those multiple TE's in pass routes and blocking to make what we do work. Maybe we can put one of our WR's in a #38 jersey and make them THINK that he's out there....probably not.
Anyway - really need to have a great showing on O this week - not looking past AP by any means (YoungBears sure can't afford to overlook ANYONE), but we might be able to 'steal one' from WCU the following week if the D continues their exceptional play and the O re-gels - particularly if their starting QB is out. He went out vs. Presby and is having an MRI on his shoulder today. I believe WCU has already 'declared' him OUT for the Wofford game this week. Hate to see any kid get hurt (I really do - been there recently with my own - part of the game, unfortunately), but I don't mind teams not having their best players when they play us - heck, we have 2 OLmen and a TE out along with a Team Captain OLB....probably others that I'm just not thinking of right now. Every team plays without players every game and I just don't mind if they don't play against 'my' team. Apparently the backup QB's WCU used last Sat. have no experience and did not perform well when their Starter went out. I understand WCU's O is VERY QB-centric, so if the Starter is out and the backups don't 'up' their game....maybe we can get that 2nd SoCon victory (1st @ Home) and gain some momentum before heading up to 'Nooga.
...Let's get it together on O this week and have a BIG CROWD there for the game with the Cantamounts. Like to see a crowd like we had for JAX last year - FULL & RAUCOUS!
