Here’s the thing I saw that impressed me the most...
This is how you make Defensive Players start questioning their decision to play Football. Do this 1st & all that ‘fancy’ stuff will also open up.
How ‘bout you? What did you see of note?

Poor tackling.

Well, #29 is from AL. He probably slipped up & thought he was playing for Samford for a second. No wait, that's not possible because, if he were, he would have never seen a running play go over 2.8 yards in practice. So...nope, just a young, unstoppable, brahma bull on the loose.

Hey before you diss this guy's(#29) origin too much, send him to us, BUT you must also include a certain WR, that is from the same town and HS. I would love to see our #8 throwing the fade route to that #8. He is one heck of a good player.

For a comparison, the Atlanta Falcons carried 7 WR’s on their 2017 roster. Samford also, currently, has 10 QB’s on their roster. That’s pretty easy math - 10 deep. Perhaps, focusing on improving the playing time prospects for those 34 young men, rather than such blatant roster-tampering, would be a more worthwhile endeavor. If Mercer’s #8 & #29 hadn’t both already begun their final year of eligibility, I imagine the NCAA would be very interested in receiving a screen shot of this post of obviously illegal recruiting efforts by an NCAA-defined Samford “Athletics Booster.” Note: I’m just kidding. Skeered you for a second though, didn’t I?

1. Our walk-on program is second to none. Falcons walk-on not so good. Also, considering our potent running game, many of these players have ASKED to be listed as WRs. 2. What a brilliant move to have your 1st and 2nd QB ready, and then 8 more to emulate each SoCon opponent. They study film all year and then lead the scout team the week we play duplicating what that particular QB will do. You should see our Kaelan Riley - mirror image. 3.Maybe you did, but I wouldn't ever admit it. LOL

Not really directly related to the scrimmage, but I didn’t feel like starting a new thread. Mercer is doing some of those “Mic’d Up” videos during ‘camp’ and I liked this one. I think it was a fun question, had some funny answers, #8 did a nice job of emceeing it, AND I think I see some solid Team Chemistry when I watch this video...not only Player-to-Player, but also Player-to-Coach & vice-versa. That’s a good thing! There’s a bit more on this video (another :50), but I can’t get the IG/TV link to embed...so go here if you want to view it in its entirety. You’ll find out who the Head Coach & the OC would not take along on their vacations... www.instagram.com/tv/BmbyrlhlH_V/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1j7vtmufkxtfmBTW...just wonderin’...is “who’re” a proper contraction? If so, I see some potential typographical risk in using it, particularly in the context of whom might accompany a young (or older) man on his vacation.

Whoa! I'm only viewing from a distance you might could say, BUT those guys look really muscled up from last year.

Whoa! I'm only viewing from a distance you might could say, BUT those guys look really muscled up from last year. Well...there have been some changes in the area responsible for adding those muscles... At some point last year, Carl Miller, then, Asst. Dir. of Strength & Conditioning, was assigned primary responsibility for Football. In the past week or so, Mr. Miller was promoted to Director and Mercer’s former Dir. of S&C, who, prior to Mr. Miller assuming the responsibility, was primarily responsible for Football S&C, is now an Asst Dir. of S&C at Georgia State. I believe he will have responsibility for ‘Olympic Sports’ at GaState. If these changes have led to what you have noted, then...”bully” for the Football Bears!
