CRAP - Forgot to check "Borders" - This would look A LOT better if I had. Sorry - save yourself the eye strain. Mercer is bigger and more experienced than JaxU in every category. I would suspect the Bears are faster as well. Probably a bigger difference there than in size & experience. And almost any Team is going to seem slow compared to what Mercer saw in Memphis. Those CATS sure were fleet of foot!

Jacksonville Head Coach says they are an “upper echelon” Team in college football. Says their QB has the same speed & balance of the best ever and that “great teams” need “great Quarterbacks,” so they are in that category for years to come. He says they are “in a different place” this year than when they came up to play Mercer last year. He says they are coming up to Macon for no other purpose than to win the Football game. He said this Saturday will be the same thing as last Saturday. They won 63-14 last Saturday. Behind the Shields: Week 2 Mercer

No another football fan or even Mercer fan could listen to the interview where the head coach could not have been more complementary to Mercer, then write up a synopsis with the slant FUBeAR spreads around. He certainly has a way of hearing things, then repeating those "shock" bits, that the speaker actually did not say.

No another football fan or even Mercer fan could listen to the interview where the head coach could not have been more complementary to Mercer, then write up a synopsis with the slant FUBeAR spreads around. He certainly has a way of hearing things, then repeating those "shock" bits, that the speaker actually did not say. I thought providing the link to the actual interview and paraphrasing a few of the comments I noted would be high enough of a journalistic standard for a fan Message Board, but I guess “Guest” (may I suggest AdHominemONLY as an apt screen name if you get registered) is the final arbiter of such matters. So, the exact quotes from the interview, which were initially paraphrased, are shown below, as well as I could transcribe them. I think you will find that saying ”that the speaker actually did not say” the things that were paraphrased to be a far less truthful statement than the paraphrasing, which is, by definition, lifted from the context, itself. “Like we said, half the Teams in the country are sitting there at 1-0 and the other half’s not. It’s nice to be in that upper echelon after week 1.”
Q: “Does his balance rank up there with maybe some of the best that you’ve ever seen...?” A: “Like I said, he’s a special talent. He does have great balance. He has great vision. He has legitimate speed. He has functional football speed and athleticism...Any great team is going to need great quarterback play, so I think we’re in good hands, for not just short term, but here long term looking forward.”
“We’re in a little different place than a year ago...before we go up there to play Mercer.”
“Best case scenario, we win the football game. We’re not getting on there for any other purpose.”
“This week we go 1-0. Next week...1-0.”

On to Samford, did they get beat up in the FSU game enough for the Bears to have a chance?

On to Samford, did they get beat up in the FSU game enough for the Bears to have a chance? You make the call. Below is a condensed (20 minute) version of them laying siege to the Seminoles' Beach in Tallahassee. Away games are TOUGH!
