Bears favored by almost 1 TD by the ‘professionals’...
Austin Peay at Mercer - Saturday, September 14, 2019 7:00 PM Austin Peay +6½ Mercer Over 58½ Imputed Score Prediction...Mercer 33 APSU 26 (-ish)
Last night, I watched the 1st half of APSU’s close loss last week to highly ranked Central Arkansas - the Governors (APSU) are big, athletic, and extremely aggressive. This will, by far, be Mercer’s biggest challenge of the season so far.
A big loud crowd is worth 3+ points. The Bears need you there and VOCAL!

I haven't watched yet. Stats show they have been extremely good against the run so far. Holding a Top 10 ranked FCS team to about 1 yard per carry, and their week 1 opponent to under 2 yards per carry. Passing numbers have been more friendly, but I'm curious to see if we can maintain our balance. Our split is 61 rushes to 54 passes so far this season. But the slight rush edge makes sense considering we had sizable leads in both 2nd halves of our first two games.
One another note, APSU's starting QB went out of the game early last week, but it didn't appear like there was much fall off when their backup came in. The backup is a Sr. that has played plenty. Also, no confirmation obviously, but the starting QB tweeted that he had gotten "good news" this week. I assume that means his injury isn't serious, which is indeed good news. Never want to see a young man hurt and unable to play. But don't know anything about his status for the weekend.

“Sprinting onto the field after a few warmup throws last Saturday, Craig took a few snaps to truly settle in. But once he did, the offense came to life, with Craig—185 yards passing and an additional 63 on the ground—pushing the pace. In less than 15 minutes spanning most of the third quarter and early fourth, the Govs put up 16 points and didn't skip a beat.”

I thought I saw a familiar BIG body out there when I watched that UCA @ APSU game... #90 | JOHN WESLEY WHITESIDE | POSITION: Defensive Lineman | HEIGHT: 6-1 | WEIGHT: 325 | CLASS: Junior
Prior to Austin Peay: Redshirted at The Citadel in 2017.
The Citadel 2017 Football Statistics
Tackles Sacks Pass Defense Fumbles Blkd DEFENSIVE LEADERS GP Solo Ast Total TFL-Yds No-Yds Int-Yds BU PD Qbh Rcv-Yds FF Kick Saf 90 J.W. Whiteside, II 8 3 10 13 2.0 - 4 . 1 - 2 . 1 He didn’t Redshirt for the bellhops in 2017 as a True Freshman. He played in 8 games (before the 4 games rule...which wouldn’t have mattered anyway)...and had 4 tackles against Mercer...his Season high. bellhops bio says he redshirted there in 2017 also...they lie & cheat...despite their honor code! #90 JOHN WESLEY WHITESIDE II
Funny thing is APSU has him listed as a JR when he is/should be a R-SO (redshirted at APSU in 2018)...eligible to play thru 2021. Regardless, he is a good Player & certainly a BIG BODY that Mercer’s O-Line will need to contain on Sat.!

What are they sayin’ ‘bout da Bears...and, also, you surely want to know their D-Coord’s favorite flavor of ice cream...

Fake punt on 4th & 10 from inside your own 1 yard line? Why not!

I'm a little worried about this one. Could the Bears be looking past APSU? Nah...APSU is a good & dangerous Football Team. Getting accepted to MU proves that Mercer’s Players aren’t stupid enough to look past APSU.

Getting accepted to MU proves that Mercer’s Players aren’t stupid enough to look past APSU. I don't see any reason why Mercer would look past them. It's the home opener against a good opponent and Mercer may well need this win later down the road for a playoff bid.
