I didn't see the game, I listened to as much as I could via The Creek.

First of all, Furman is completely legit. That's a Top 10, probably a Top 5 team in FCS. You can't convince me otherwise until I see them in a dogfight with a school that isn't in the FBS.
That being said, my issue is the nature of the loss. I'm OK with taking a loss to a very good team, but we got embarrassed. I just don't believe, at this stage of our program, teams should be embarrassing us. Particularly a team that won 3 games 3 years ago. Not that Furman isn't supposed to improve (they have in spades), but it just appears we haven't kept up. That's my biggest issue. With our facilities and all Mercer has to offer, I just have a hard time stomaching we are this far behind Furman. We clearly are based on today's results, but that doesn't mean we should be.
Again, I'm not taking anything away from Furman. They have gotten real good real fast. But I just don't believe we should ever be in a situation where we get our ass whipped in a conference game like we did today.
Maybe I'll feel differently tomorrow. I'm salty as hell right now tho.

I still think Mercer has a good team and can create some noise this season. They've already got a road conference win and should match up just fine against the rest of the SoCon.
I agree, it wasn't a pretty game for the Bears yesterday. Furman throws a lot at you offensively, and Mercer was having a difficult time eliminating anything from the Paladin offense.

Welp, it’s looking real bad out there. Looks like best scenario is a 4-8 final record, and worst case a 2-10 finish. Not good. Pulling hard for this team to turn it around and prove me wrong! Halfway point of the season I know they expected more. It feels now like the Presbyterian game was added because they knew they needed a gimme win, not to pad stats on a championship season.
