I think he has the right resume and I'm sure he'll have a number of FCS head coaching opportunities. That being said, I'm not going to lie to you. I have zero... Actually scratch that... I have less than zero interest in seeing Mercer put in the Wing T and run 21 Dive forty times a game. Yuk. I have a feeling you may have cut Bona to his soul with that comment. I have a sense Bona is a WangT man from way back. Though I like the WangT, I don’t disagree with you. Just don’t see it, in its pure form, as the O that Mercer should stake the future of the program upon. Now, an O that builds elements of the WangT into a multiple offense (as Coach Cronic did as the OC at Furman), that I could get behind. One point though - the WangT is not the same “21 Dive” 40x/game O that GT ran, CIT, Army, Navy, and JaxU runs. It is (or, is most often) a heavy run-first attack, but the runs are quite diverse, with tons of shifts, motions, fakes, and counters/misdirections. It’s not boring to watch, unless you are a Spread/Air Raid fan (which FUBeAR is not), but it is definitely extremely ‘funky.’

I just am personally not interested in an offense that's 75%+ run. Just would rather be more balanced, particularly considering the level of skill player we have been apt to recruit over the life of the program.

I don't think he would run the wing-t like he did at Reinhardt and is doing at Lenoir-Rhyne. I think he would make the similar adjustments that he did at Furman. His offense was pretty fun to watch while he was OCing at FU. I am also GROTESQUELY against an UNBALANCED offense like what Hatcher would bring. I have a feeling that's already in the WORKS though. His OL Coach, Shawn Bostick, is currently building a house in beautiful FORSYTH. Guess it's just the WALMART and good school system attracting him to middle GA.

Not to say that there aren't Macon people talking about Hatcher, but I can tell you for a fact no one is talking to anyone yet. So if Hatcher's OLine coach is building a house, it's not because Hatcher is locked in to coming to Macon. Not to mention, doing a bunch of this under the table would be extremely unprofessional, and I just don't believe President Underwood would do that to Bobby, regardless of how everyone feels about the state of the program. If he did, I'd be very disappointed, and so would a lot of boosters. Also, Shawn Bostick is from Forsyth. That's where he went to high school before he went to play at Valdosta State. So maybe the allure is the Walmart, the school system, AND his Mama n' 'em.

Honestly, Hatch is a good guy and coach, but I would just like to see us go a different route. MaYbE Rush Propst is INTERESTED since he is CURRENTLY the BEST unemployed coach in the SE. Bring BEAR Air to Macon??? In all seriousness, if Bobby is not retained, I think it is a very attractive FCS job.

I agree. The job should be very attractive: great school product, high quality of degree, more fields of study than any other college in the conference, great facilities, and, most importantly, a commitment from the administration to athletics.
As far as Probst goes, I'm really not interested. There are just entirely too many things in his history that suggest problems will follow. Just announcing him as the hire would create a shit storm of questions. And, personally, that's not the kind of attention I'm looking for for the University.

IFFIN we hire someone I DON'T agree with, I'LL just WAIT for them to show up at the fine dining establishment, THE ROOKERY, and just yell "We want a WINNER, not a LOSER." That's never not WORKED before!

I think I would prefer a multiple offense to any particular system. Being able to go air raid or option when the situation calls for it.

Whatever North Dakota State does...change the school colors to Green & Gold, remove some vowels from the Players’ names, make A-Gap Power my ‘bread-and-butter’ play, then run play action off of it, build a dome, feed the Team nothing but corn every meal (all 6 of ‘em / day). Whatever the bizuns do in FCS Football is certainly working...well. COPY - STEAL - STEAL SOME MORE - COPY MORE FUBeAR got thru HS & 2 college degrees that way. Oughta work on the gridiron too!

Not the right sport, but does anyone know why Sam Mitchell is no longer on the Memphis coaching staff?

Hatcher would be a huge mistake.

Georgia Southern people will tell you he’s a nice guy, but not the guy to build a program.

Georgia Southern people will tell you he’s a nice guy, but not the guy to build a program. I hear the same from my GS friends. I like Coach Lamb, but we are not going to make the playoffs again. Speaking of Georgia Southern I like what they are doing at Kennesaw. I believe their coach Bohannon was at GS with Paul Johnson. Maybe we should consider something like that.

Couple of things that are just my opinion. I'm just really not interested in an option heavy offense. I'm just not. Kennesaw did ramp up really quickly, but I think there are a few things with that school that are different, or can't be modeled, by Mercer. First of all, if I'm not mistaken, they relied VERY heavily on transfers. I am not a fan of that, in general. I think having people move all the way through the program start to finish is better for program building and makes ownership of the program less disposable. Next, Kennesaw can, how do I word this, admit anyone they want, new or transfer, regardless of their performance level in the more academic areas of their prior history. It makes their potential player pool much, much larger. The reality (that will always be a reality) is that it's hard to get in to Mercer, and it doesn't matter if you are an athlete or not. And that will always be something that has to be overcome compared to the Kennesaw/Chatt/ETSU's of the world.

We/Mercer have much in common with the Academies that succeed with much less talent than their competition most Saturdays in the Fall. Academics and Culture matter to us, but we still have the ability to get talent at a level better than many FCS programs. Geography works heavily in our favor.
