Mercer will be the favorite here. APU is 0-5 this season, and has not been competitive in any game. They were 0-12 last season. They were 2-9 in 2012. Needless to say, they are not very good.
In my pre-season prediculations, this was a game I had Mercer winning. I imagine, though, that the Governors may look at Mercer as a chance to steal one against a transitioning team. After starting to get into the flow of the SoCon schedule, I would expect the Bears need to be on guard for a let down.

Do not overlook the teams that APSU has played so far. this one will be closer than most think. Memphis,EKU,EIU, Chatty and ISU. 3 are ranked top 25 FCS. 1 FBS and one playoff team from last year that hasn't done so hot this year(EIU)

Needless to say, they are not very good. - DO NOT AGREE - The 2012 & 2013 APSU Teams will not be playing tomorrow. Their 2014 schedule has been BRUTAL. I would say the 2014 APSU Team very much resembles the 2013 WCU Team, but much bigger & somewhat better on Defense. Not sure they will get things going in 2015, but they could do that this weekend and FU Fans know how that works out. BTW - I'm informing my opinion from watching all of APSU's games THIS year; not looking at their W-L record or their stats. In my pre-season prediculations, this was a game I had Mercer winning. I imagine, though, that the Governors may look at Mercer as a chance to steal one against a transitioning team. After starting to get into the flow of the SoCon schedule, I would expect the Bears need to be on guard for a let down. - AGREE - They were VERY, VERY let down after falling to Samford last week. They EXPECTED to beat FU, but knew they still had a chance at the SoCon Championship with one loss. They EXPECTED to beat Samford and now may feel like they might not have a shot at the Championship now, but I'm sure Coach Lamb, the other Coaches, and the Team Leaders will have them out of their 'funk' and ready to play & EXPECTING to win on Saturday.

Of course anyone can show up and play like a giant on Saturday. Still, I take the position that despite their potential, a team that has gone 2-26 or so the last three years is going to be an underdog in most games. Hey, maybe their luck's about to change.
I think Mercer is probably still mathematically alive in the SoCon title race. Granted, I think the SoCon championship has only been won by a team with two conference losses only four times in league history. On the bright side, three of those four times have come since 2007 (including the last two years). Only '81 Paladins pulled off the feat in an 8 team conference, though.
Mercer and Furman are pretty well in the same boat. They are both in sudden death in the conference. Furman has a little more wiggle room with one conference loss, but our poor OOC record has all but demanded we beat everyone left on the schedule expect South Carolina.

Hey FUBeAR, you know anything about the '81 Paladins? I have heard a few things about that FU Team. 2nd SoCon loss @ ElCid didn't matter (in the Conf race) as the Championship was clinched the week before @ VMI. 1st loss to Chatt was rife with bad calls in GVL. Pretty sure Chatt's HC, former NYG star & later SC Gamecock HC, Joe Morrison (RIP) spent some money that day! ;-) It was an uncharacteristic OFF day for FU in Charleston the last week of the '81 season including a 'rogue' FAIL OF a fake punt run for -7 yards on 4th & long deep in FU territory by a 265 pound, JR, out of shape, slow as Grandma's molasses in January (in Fargo!) All-SoCon Punter, who NEVER punted for FU again. Led to a quick TD for the Bellhops which was immediately followed by a fumble on the KOR by a future NFL Return Specialist & another quick Bellhop TD. More fumbles, penalties, intereceptions...& most embarrassing to FU's players, ElCid came out after warm ups having changed into baby blue britches that matched their jerseys. FU was beaten soundly that day by a bunch of Easter eggs! There is a wee bit of a chance that FU's players may have celebrated clinching that '81 Championship just a bit too long & hard that week...so I've heard.

Bears took care of business.
Next 3 games will let us know how good we really are, or aren't.

Great win here!! Awesome to see them deliver the knockout punches early and end any threat of an upset quickly.
