This is a huge game. Maybe the biggest of the year. Mercer needs this one to get over the SoCon hump. I don't think that playing close will sit too well with these Bears. They are hungry and want the win. WCU is playing well this year. They also need this game.
I am sure that WCU will be favored, but these Bears are defending their den. It might be an atmosphere ripe for an upset.

Video from last year's Blackout - my favorite game & highlight video from 2013. Looking forward to an even better game in 2014!

Will be a good game, I think. WCU has a coaching staff led by former App State acolytes, and have really turned things around. Mercer wants the big SoCon home win and WCU is not going to want the upstart Bears to derail their best chance at a SoCon title in perhaps 30 years.
I did notice Troy Mitchell played against Wofford. Did not have a great game, but the Cats are much better with him under center.

What is the status of WCU's QB? I noticed he played Sat. Is he 100% or playing hurt?

2 stats from last week that stood out for me for the Bears were 0 turnovers and only 3 penalties (22 yards). Similar stats next week would be pretty big for Mercer.

What is the status of WCU's QB? I noticed he played Sat. Is he 100% or playing hurt? According to the box score, he played against Wofford. Does not look like he was very effective, though. He was 10-15 for 101 yards and rushed for 21. WCU had only 13 first downs. Compare that to Mitchell's performance against Furman two weeks earlier -- 12/19 182 yards, 70 yards rushing and 23 first downs. I imagine he is not 100%. He left the PC game with injury, and was far more pedestrian against Wofford than Furman. Wofford is one of the SoCon's less stellar defenses. Furman is one of the better ones.

First of all, welcome to the SoCon. We are excited about coming down to Macon, not only to play some football, but to also get a first hand look at your facilities, I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice. Congratulations on your season thus far as well. I'm sure you guys are as excited about your team this season, as the Catamount fans are of this years Catamount team. You've probably heard, we haven't been very good for a while, basically the door mat of the SoCon since VMI left. However, we now have a new coach that has greatly improved our situation, and it looks as if we might have finally turned the corner on respectability. I hope you guys aren't feeling too bad over your perceived lack of respect, that happens to all new programs, until they have a couple years under their belt, and have proven their commitment to football. The best way to quieten down the skeptics, is let your team to the talking and it certainly seems your players have already talked a lot with their on field play. I've been a Catamount fan for a long time, so if there's anything I can help with, any information - just ask. I'd like to invite any and all of you guys over to one of the two Catamount messages boards (we won't mind a little friendly banter), Catamount Sports Forum - it's also a proboard forum, and to our blog - Purple & Gold
PS -To the Admin - I've got a good deal of experience with proboard, so if you need any assistance, just let me know. But you seem to have things well in hand.

That's now SoCon civilized fans 3, SoCon nasty fans 1. Thanks for the welcome and encouraging words. But I hope we beat you, and not to be too cocky, but I think we have a chance! Have fun in Macon. Be sure to eat at H and H restaurant downtown for the soul food that Duane and Gregg Allman thought was the best!

Line is out - Cats favored by 8 Over/Under @ 56.5
Yields a prediction of around 32-25 or 33-24 favoring WCU.
Was expecting another 20+ spread...so this worries me.

Only 224 Reserved Seats & 125 Berm Tickets (349 total) remaining for WCU @ Mercer game.
#BLACKOUTWCU
Get your tix now if you don't have 'em yet....and go ahead & rush order that cute 'LBD' you've been eyeing in the Vicky's Secret Catalog. It's going to be 82 degrees of flat Middle Georgia heat and sunny on Saturday. (BTW - It's been down in the low 40's in the mountains of Cullowhee, NC this week)

Sorry guys for spoiling your black out this weekend. But the Cats have something to prove.
