Wofford’s Head Coach, who very recently interviewed for, but was not selected to leave SparkleCity (much to his great disappointment) & become D-Coordinator @ Illinois; has some thoughts on his Spring MiniMutts Team & their upcoming contest with Mercer...
He was on it last night. I’ve been checking regularly since this Tweet appeared on 2/8 announcing he had re-entered the portal.
Rats, again - wish him the best in his subsequent pursuits. Heckuva WARRIOR!
Yes sir! When was a constant and always played hard. Will be missed, but wish him well.
Heard it may only be a Spring “opt-out.” Who knows?? With this screwy season, these kids are going to be eligible until they’re 30 years old. And with the Portal, they may play at 30 different schools before all is said & done.
crazy times we live in...in all ways.
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he today that sheds his blood with me, shall be my brother.
I am looking forward to following this matchup. Mercer likely benefited from the fall play and having an opportunity to get fall and spring work in with the new coaching staff. Not having Devezin hurts, though, as I think he would be a nice fit in Cronic's system.
Wofford has a lot of question marks. They haven't played in over a year and lost a lot of players off last year's team. They still have some dangerous guys - especially at the skill positions.
I think “Cronic’s QB” is either the one who is ineligible for the Spring because he played 10 FBS games in the Fall of 2020 OR the one who’s still trying to recover from a devastating lower limb injury incurred in the Fall of 2019.
That said, you gotta play with the ones that which is suited up. #15 seems to have a bit more escapability & throw-it-the-heck-away-ability than #18 both of which were sorely needed way too often today.
Gotta clean up PassPro & gotta get more target-able Retrievers in the reachable zones on BootFlood - more ‘flood’ & more time to find the flooders and/or more time for QB to square shoulders/hips to be able to slang it to the backside Retrievers. Cutting down the splits on the b/s WR’s and/or shortening the stems of the routes might’ve helped some today...but with a Defender running-free & in his face before he even finishes his turn on the boot, DeShaun Watson or Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t have measurably better than 11 for 24 today.
