Proud of the guys for a solid performance so far, but d***n we are young. 50+ freshman and redshirt freshman. We are going to be okay. We have the right guy leading us, but sheesh we are hot and cold. INEXPERIENCED, I KNOW!

It’s all about getting experience for the Fall. I think Mercer will be one of the teams that benefit the most from it.

Defense has been solid since Fall - despite some of the scores we see. They still need pieces, but A LOT to like there.
Offensive Line has been 1 step forward, half a step back, 2 steps forward, 3 steps back...but the overall trend line is steadily up. Believe it or not, FUBeAR reviewed every play of each OLman in the VMI game...and, overall, they played pretty well. Despite what VMI fans think/say & will copy from here to their message board, Mercer’s OL did not lose many physical battles in a game where finding a 1st down was like finding the Hope Diamond. They were at least getting stalemates... which can be enough on the OL. Haven’t done that analysis with WCU game, but what I saw ‘on the fly’ looked great!
Building these 2 units is like building the foundation of a house. It’s critical to success and you can build a great house on a great foundation, but you cannot build a great house on a crappy foundation - it’s impossible (some SoCon Teams have proven that). But building a foundation is dirty, muddy work and your ‘lot’ often looks like a hog wallow in the process.
The framing, sheetrock, electrical, beautiful appliances, carpet/drapes, decks, patios, pools, hot tubs, and landscaping are coming...in time & with some costs / investments.
Here...let Coach Harrison tell you all about a similar process...
