Unless FUBeAR is reading something wrong...Mercer is 1 of only 3 (maybe 4...if we count QUITTERS) Teams that has a path to this Season’s SoCon Football Championship & an Automatic Bid to the Playoffs.
Mercer beats ETSU & Samford...finishes 6-2 / 0.750
ChattaQuitta finish(ed) (most likely) 3-1 / 0.750 (with an H2H loss to Mercer)
VMI loses to CIT...finishes 5-2 / 0.714
ETSU finishes 4-2 / 0.667
2 ‘events’ fully in the Bears control (beating ETSU & Samford) ... and 1 not - CIT needs to beat VMI on 4/17. Defeating Woffy last week, CIT looked resurgent after getting back the heart & soul of their D (pre-season DPOY LB), their QB, and a few other players. Barring injuries against FU this week, they should be at a reasonable facsimile of “full-strength” when they play VMI. Meanwhile, VMI’s OPOY QB is out for the season & the Keydets lost last week.
I’m sure Mercer’s Players & Coaches would love to have a (socially distanced) capacity crowd screaming loudly for the Bears on Sat night.

Had a good pro day the other day, busted a 4.37 on the laser. Going to be scary once he trains for it. Cant wait to be in Macon next weekend, tickets on the berm easy to get? That was my spot for two years! |

So now, a win over Samford next Saturday, and then Mercer has to have The Citadel pull the upset over VMI.
Amazing considering how things looked just a month ago.
This Mercer team is a team that folks don’t want to see in the playoffs, because they are putting it together. Especially on defense.

Defense is phenomenal and offense will find its way in time. Great game and enjoyed being back in Macon. |

Had to drive to Macon to see this Bear’s team in person. Mercer is well coached and has some impressive young talent. The game day enthusiasm was great. The future looks very very bright for the Bears.

Anybody got a scouting report on Sanford. I know about the top receiver (Ty King) because he is from the Augusta area but that’s the extent of my knowledge of the football Bulldogs

If the Bears can keep pressure on the QB up front it could be a long game for them. We don’t need it to be a shoot out. If the Bears can get up early and then control clock and let the defense pin their ears back, I like our chances. |

Dang! Samford & ETSU were 2 of the “last 4 out” of the Playoffs.
Kinda think that means a win yesterday...and Mercer was IN.
Woulda been fun...Fall can’t get here soon enough (for Fans - I’m sure the Players & Coaches need a blow)
