Going back to the first post, SoCon officiating suffers from losing quality guys up the ladder. The best ones quickly ascend to the SEC, ACC and other FBS leagues. You get a couple of the gray hairs who've been in the league for ages coupled with newbies learning their craft at the low D1 level. SoCon also lost a lot of pull in attracting officials, IMO, when Don Lucas resigned after 18 years of managing the league's basketball and football officials. Lucas also coordinated officials for the Sun Belt for nearly 12 years while handling the SoCon.

Posted on TheUFFP - I enjoyed it & I hope some of them will as well. BTW - I don't know if you noticed, but I transcribed the actual text of the invocation from my dar.fm recording of the game and posted it there. There were a few comments that said something to the effect of...."Well that sure wasn't as bad as y'all said it was. I thought it was good."...and then the indignance subsided...or perhaps they just had moved on to the PC game. I was glad to be able to post what he ACTUALLY said though. I thought it was in a playful & fun spirit when I heard it; and liked it even more when I read it. I just spend a lot more time with Big Guy from the NT & I think that Guy likes us to have fun and, on occasion, conduct a reenactment of JC's work with the Temple Moneychangers...on the gridiron. All that said, I could be completely wrong. |
