The schedule so far - assembled from fbschedules.com from other teams that have announced theirs: Sept 3 - @ AuburnSept 10 - Possibly OOC, ByeSept 17 - The CitadelSept 24 - Possibly WCU, @ Samford, OOC, ByeOct 1 - @ WoffordOct 8 - Possibly WCU, OOC, ByeOct 15 - Possibly @ Samford, ETSU, OOC, ByeOct 22 - @ Chattanooga (1:30pm kick time currently)Oct 29 - @ VMINov 5 - Possibly ETSU, OOC, ByeNov 12 - FurmanNov 19 - Possibly @ Samford, OOC, ByeThat leaves Samford, ETSU, and Western Carolina among conference opponents. ETSU and WCU would be home games, I believe, and Samford would be on the road. There's also two (hopefully D-1) non-conference games and a bye week to book. For fun…it can help to ID the can & can’t be’s dates based on known info…see above. FUBeAR’s guesses are underlined. I agree with Nov 5 being ETSU and Nov 19 being at Samford - those are the only two places that make any sense with relation to the weeks that Mercer and those teams currently have available. The only other possible week for those two will be the week that they both play each other, which will probably be Mercer's off week (Oct 15).
WCU will be either Sep 24 or Oct 8. If I had to guess right now I'd say Oct 8 to give Mercer a home game going into the probable bye week the week after that, which is then followed by two road games.
If we're playing Yale this year, the only options at this point on Yale's schedule are Sep 10 or Oct 15, neither of which are great unless we're playing Yale here. Yale were supposed to come here last year on October 2nd but that didn't happen. We played Samford at home and Yale went to Lehigh, so I'm not sure of the current state of what was supposed to be a four game home-and-home. I wouldn't particularly be surprised if the remaining games have been put off or just cancelled/bought out.

Do you think Yale’s students & faculty might ‘raise a stink’ if their Football Team came to Georgia, a state which the MLB Commissioner, an Ivy Leaguer (Harvard & Cornell), judged as having values so unaligned with his/MLB’s that it did not deserve to retain the 2021 All-Star Game which it had been awarded in 2019, to play a Football game? Wondering if that might be affecting the rescheduling of this. Their 2022 cancellation was because they had a chance to play UCONN…which makes sense for them. If they are now choosing just to not come to GA (for whatever reason), would certainly hope there is a significant financial penalty paid from Yale to Mercer for such a cancellation. They can afford it.

I just hope we aren’t stuck with another short schedule. Probably cost us a playoff berth last year. Another short schedule and I’d have serious concerns about how the AD is doing his job.

There's buyout penalties in contracts if either school decides they don't want to play for controllable reasons. If Yale backed out, I'm sure they had to fork out some cash to us, which we then turned around and paid some of to Charleston Southern to buy out of that game last year.
Looking at September 10th and 24th on fbschedules - Davidson, Stetson, and Morehead State are the closest three Pioneer schools with possible availability in at least one of those slots.
If we do have to take a non-D1 game, I would hope we'd at least schedule someone who has an alumni base in the area that may result in getting fans in that we may not normally get, or at least has a fanbase that will travel. I don't think Point fits that description.

Mercer Announces 2022 Football ScheduleWelp….they pulled it off - 11 games, all D1, 2 winnable FCS OOC games…and retained 5 Home Games. FUBeAR woulda gone to 4 to make this schedule happen, but I’m sure those in charge at Mercer didn’t want that and they pulled off a sweet deal getting Morehead State to come to Macon for a Week 0 game. Good Job! Aug 27 - Morehead State Sept 3 - @ Auburn Sept 10 - Bye Sept 17 - The Citadel Sept 24 - @ Gardner Webb Oct 1 - @ Wofford Oct 8 - WCU Oct 15 - ETSU Oct 22 - @ Chattanooga (1:30pm kick time currently) Oct 29 - @ VMI Nov 5 - Bye Nov 12 - Furman Nov 19 - @ Samford

Yes, this schedule works! Great job by the administration to make this happen. Was getting worried it was taking this long. The Gardner-Webb game isn’t a bad road trip. The Morehead State game is a challenging opener but winnable. Not sure what they bring back from last year. Looking forward to the season!!

I like the way the schedule is set up this year. Gives us a shot at an upset vs Auburn, albeit a small shot. The bye after Auburn is also a good thing. Gives Beats time to recover and focus on the upcoming conference games. I’m excited about this season and hoping it ends with Bears in playoffs.
Go Bears !

Definitely think we may be able to shock the War Eagles if we get out to an early lead

Obviously, Auburn doesn’t have a chance to win now.

Was Morehead State bad or were we good? Regardless, I'll take the win.

Was Morehead State bad or were we good? Regardless, I'll take the win. Morehead State is a top-tier FCS Pioneer Football League (PFL) Team. Mercer was a Top-Tier PFL Team in 2013 with 98 walk-on Freshmen on their roster. Now, they were mostly Georgia High School Football boys (which is a huge advantage) and most of ‘em had a year of practice (which certainly helped), and a few of ‘em were “scholarship recruits” to other schools who had transferred to Mercer anticipating the program would move quickly to scholarship ball. So, they were not exactly your typical PFL non-scholarship Team. We’ll know more about Morehead when they face FCS #4 Montana State next Saturday (9/10), but they most likely are not very good. Massey Ratings, which FUBeAR does not like, has the Eagles ranked 124th out of 130 FCS Teams and 255th out of 261 D1 Teams. Auburn is 16th and Mercer is ranked 147th in D1, according to Massey. All that said, Mercer looked quite good. It’s hard to execute Offensively as well as the Bears did ‘on air,’ much less when a Defense (even a not very good Defense) is trying their best to stop you. The Mercer Defense was not as dominant as FUBeAR expected, but they seemed as if they were hoping for a bit more of a challenge and then sort of lost interest. Auburn will certainly challenge Mercer’s D on Saturday. Special Teams were a mixed bag. A couple of units (won’t say which) concern FUBeAR, but he has no doubt they will certainly receive a great deal of attention this week and will show improvement.
