Daniel Shoch in at QB for the Bears. Interesting we've seen Shoch a couple of times but not Carter Peavy. I can't remember if Peavy red-shirted a year? Are they gonna try and get him a redshirt this year? Honestly the COVID year and exemptions have made it so I have no idea how much eligibility anyone has.

Yep, Peavy has never red-shirted. So that might be the strat on him since Payton is a senior.

First win ever at Wofford? That surprises me.

First win ever at Wofford? That surprises me. Yeah. We have historically not been very good there.

Game ends on a pick in the end zone. 42-7 Mercer is your final. Really good game from the Bears. D was terrific again. Offense looked to have much more rhythm than in games 2 and 3, which is encouraging.
Kick coverage and ball security remain the orders of the day. Gotta keep grinding there.
Also, Fred Payton still has no INTs and I believe now has 13 TDs on the year. Was 20/26 for 330 and 2 TDs today.
Mercer had 554 yards of offense.

Has Wofford gone non-scholly ? They look PFLish.

Has Wofford gone non-scholly ? They look PFLish. Coaching change then an offense type change. I just don't think they have the right personnel yet for a spread type offense. That said, they are bad on defense and that wasn't a change. Long time legendary coach leaves and new guy recruiting problems? Just the wrong coach for them? Don't know, but they have fallen far.

Yeah - that could make a lot of sense because they get to play in 4 games - any number of plays/quarters in any 4 games, including playoff games - without using a year of eligibility, so the strategy could be…could redshirt both of ‘em. 1) Payton is starter 2) Peavy is backup; Starter if anything should happen to Payton 3) Shoch is next in line 4) Get Shoch developmental PT in games when possible up to playing in up to 4 games - earlier in the season, most likely…but when it makes sense to get the reps, you get ‘em cuz you can’t predict having the luxury of doing that later. 5) Be reluctant to play Peavy until as late in the season as a 2nd round Playoff game (4 games thru Natty from there) Lot of benefit to that kind of set-up So…if this is the case, just gotta make sure Peavy is getting some good game-speed, near-live-fire reps in practice. He had plenty of that in the 2020 season and a good bit last year, but needs to stay tuned-up to be ready to step in.
