- Several players left at the end of the spring, most after falling down the depth chart
- New coaching staff is strong. Coach T.O. (Tyler Orlosky) has made a good impression, shouted out by all 4 players I talked to
- Strength staff is riding the players hard, as usual in spring and summer
- The loss of Ty, Dev, Carter, Lance, and Zu is why most think we’re not ranked
- Furman and Western are ranked, but those rankings are suspect, as they’ve lost as much as Mercer
- Defense remains strong, but Mercer’s record and ranking depend on the right QB and O-line
- We’ll know how good we are after we play Chatt (ranked #11) in week 3
