George Mason will be without its second-leading returning scorer Patrick Hollaway. He was suspended for the first six games due to academics.

Mercer is the new kid on the block. Expect none of the current schools to view the Bears as their rival. The only way MU becomes a rival is when we start winning big games against them. Until then, we are Elon to them. Now, I do know that there are a lot of Mocs fans who hate us today. THAT is a start. I just think rivalries develop organically. They aren't necessarily forced. Some teams don't really have a rival. Wofford for years really didn't (and still kinda sorta doesn't). That is especially true when you have some teams (like Furman and Citadel) that have been playing one another for close to a century. The first time Furman and Citadel played football Woodrow Wilson was in office. Outside of a three year hiatus for WWII, those two schools have played every season since 1919. Hard to replicate that sort of significance in a single season or two. Again, I think Samford's your winner. Very similar schools. Their head coach is from Macon. Two newish programs to the SoCon. Well said. I agree with both points. Rivalries develop organically but if we tried to project who will develop into MU's rival, the logical choice would be Samford, especially for football. I hope Wofford will become MU's basketball rival. Belmont would have been a good addition to the SoCon it it could have been a good basketball rival as well.

So will y'all shut the hell up now that we beat the #3 team in the country? This team has played their hearts out all season long. Finally some breaks went their way. Coaching is the reason this team with less than a full compliment of scholarships and many guys that started non-scholarship are as competitive as they are. Y'all need to go pick on Richt or Johnson. I thought we all agreed that Lamb was doing a good job and that to question him at this point was stupid.

I hope it is obvious that I am just having fun with my comments. This thread is intended to be lighthearted.
Keep up the good work, clustersports. You are adding to the promotion of MU. As is BearDownMU.

I once took a dump at Ga Tech. Can I now say "we" when I talk about them? Or can only my dump refer to itself as "we" when talking about Tech?

If Mark Richt gets the gig, when he says "we" will he be referring to Mercer, Georgia or Miami?

I have heard of some schools that have had active programs to shame students from wearing t-shirts from other schools. Some have even had t-shirt exchange programs.
If you love UGa so much, why didn't you go there?
"We" should only be used when referring to Mercer if you are a Mercer student or an undergraduate alumnus.

Davidson is a private school and it dominated the SoCon in basketball before moving on to a multi-bid league. Davidson is what Mercer MBB needs to strive for. Besides, public or private, all schools are one coaching hire away from being George Mason under Jim Larranaga or one coaching hire away from being George Mason under Paul Hewitt. Do we have the right coach at MBB? I think so. Did UTC make a good hire in replacing Wade? Only time will tell.
