That's nice and would fit perfectly with the other buildings on that side of campus. Is proposed design a done deal? Or do the previously mentioned issues send it back to the drawing board?

I too think the Nazareth science building looks better than the current design for the science building.

It looks classic yet modern. Nice balance of styles.

Does anyone here remember Porter Gym? Where was it located on campus? How many seats for basketball? It looks like a cool building. Too bad it couldn't have been used for something.

My former Mercer hoops friends tell me that it was on campus. Not exactly sure where....maybe somewhere on the Cruz Plaza side of Mercer Hall. They say it was a 'dump.' Seated 500. Looks like they played hoops there thru 2003.

Looks like they played hoops there thru 2003. It was across from the Stetson Business School (which was the library at the time), but closer to Shorter. And definitely a dump. We played intramurals there and the Teddy Bears played there too. The men played at the Macon Coliseum and averaged about 600 fans a game. My senior year was the year we lost to GT by 6 in the NCAA with Sam Mitchell and company (85-86). Apparently men's games moved back to Porter gym sometime after that. As much as I hated to see the beautiful KA Mansion be torn down, building the University Center was one of the best moves the school ever did.

Curious question. Are they intending that the route via 75 through Mercer University drive is going to be the unofficial entrance to downtown? Or do they mean Mercer is the gateway to downtown Macon? Good to see the development. Perhaps moreso than ever, it looks like Macon and Mercer are furthering a symbiotic relationship. Hard to really distinguish them at times.

Ok, so that is part of the second street development. Makes more sense. I was wondering, because I lived, worked, and went to church in downtown Macon for 8 years and never went down Mercer University.
