I think it's funny that your confidence is coming from games that Tech won like Georgia Southern, who would absolutely crush Mercer, and from Wofford, a game that took place two years ago in which Tech won by 3 TDs and gained 508 yards of total offense. Didn't you just lose to The Citadel... lol

Actually, we struggled on one play. One play where a LB got out of position and missed a gap assignment. There wasn't a whole of of struggling the rest of the day from our defense.
You take that 1 run away and they would have rushed for 190 yards. 190.

And they had been a middle of the pack team in the SoCon the year prior. Soooo.... We did lose to the Citadel a point... Who beat South Carolina last year.

You're absolutely right. GSU was a middle of the road FBS team that year. Mercer is at best a middle of the road FCS team. Oh, and that Citadel team from last year that you mentioned got their doors blown off by GSU. Maybe I'm failing to see your point. A team that is exponentially better than yours came close to upsetting Tech after Tech had a 35-10 lead going into the half and got lazy. Then marched down for the win. Again, you're using examples of games Tech won as a reason that you will? Doesn't make any sense to me. Plus Mercer has zero experience in games like this. It is literally your first game against a FBS team since you restarted the program.

If you take that 1 run away we still gave up 125 rushing yards in the first quarter before we settled down. I just hope our guys can adapt to the game speed early on. If not, I just think it's going to be a long day for us. Their athletes are going to be far superior to ours. Vegas has us as a 32.5 point underdog, and Vegas isn't often wrong. I don't think they'll run it up on us, but I can see something like 35-0 or 35-7 if they let off the gas.

I know there ain't much time fer readin' up at that trade school, but he pretty clearly stated that they were middle of the road in the SoCon the year before, finishing 4th. I would make the argument that Mercer is closer to top 25 FCS team. If the Citadel is currently ranked #16 and had to squeak by in a 1 point comeback win then Mercer feels like a close #17. None of this means we're going to win, but please put some respek on our name.

Actually, no one here has been beating their chest talking about how wins are guaranteed. That sounds more like an imaginary conversation in your head. I think all Mercer people, based on what we've seen since the program came back, is that these guys work their asses of and the BELIEVE they can win. Which is all you can ask for. As far as coming close, we did beat the #3 team in FCS last season. As far as the other, and all your meandering explanations about why GaSou was close (you got lazy), all I'm saying is, sports is weird, and you never know, and I support my team no matter what. And all that being said, you better hope it is a blow out, because we literally have nothing to lose. If it is a blowout, everyone just say "Well, that was what we thought." HOWEVER, if we keep it close, or, God forbid, do something extraordinary, then you guys just look bad. But look on the bright side, if we schedule this a few more times in the future, at least you guys have found a school in Georgia you can consistently beat. That should be a new thing for you.

GT fan here, I'm not going to troll because the stuff gets on my nerves, but I figured I would give some info on us that most people don't know. Last year was an anomaly imo, we lost two WR's to the NFL the year before, we lost both B backs, and our two deep of A backs, we also lost our best OL men to the NFL. Then before the seasons started we lost an offensive tackle to an acl tear, our top two new B backs, an A back that was talked about being a starter, and a WR. Then the season started and we lost our best defensive player half way through, we had 6 or 7 A back injuries one which was a starter and was out for the season after just the third game, and then we had one of our starting WR's quit the team. Against Miami in the second quarter we had 8 freshman on the field at once on offense and that was without our starting QB because he was hurt, and yet 6 of our losses were only by one possession.my point for this is to say don't expect this year to be like lay year, we will be a lot closer to the 2014 season, maybe not as good but closer to that than the 2015 season. And Boston college had the number 1 D last year and we were the 2nd or 3rd highest in ppd against them with the games from this year and last, we only ran 51 plays. I do hope all y'all have a good time at the game though and safe travels, and I wish y'all Good luck it should be fun.
