The end result was not as we hoped for, but I'm proud of the Bears efforts today. Both the team/staff and fans showed up big! A 35-10 loss was far from the GT predictions of breaking 50, 60 or 70 points. Not only that, the Bears rolled to open the game with a forced turnover and a 7-0 lead.
I'm convinced that these first 2 games are either the hardest on the schedule, or they're 2 of the toughest 3. Go Bears!

Yeah, as I said a million times this week, I think the depth gap is way more prevalent than the talent gap. Out guys came out firing and I like it.
Being at the game, it seemed to me out speed to the edge was really out biggest hurdle. I thought we did a really good job on the interior.
But, in 90+ degree heat and that level of intensity, it just gets really hard in the 3rd and 4th quarter when teams have 22 more scholarships than you do.

Proud yes of course I am. I also think we could have competed better and been more focused and prepared to win. On to next week. I may be in a minority but some of the schemes and third down formation just plain ole baffling to me.

Mercer passing game need a thorough Analysis, and immediate change. #84 is the teams leading receiver and greatest threat but in two games only 6 catches and no 3&4 quarter targets to speak of, not sure what the OC, Passing game coordinator is looking at, but we are leaving points on the field without going to him. 3 catches for 65 yds and a TD. Lets get our playmakers the ball, we need points to win.

GT scored at will pretty much, even early in the game, so it wasn't depth. And the second string guys played most of the second half. Nothing against mercer, because they played a good game, but it could have been worse if GT wasn't subbing guys in and out so much trying to work kinks out and get a gauge on the second string guys. I do wish mercer a great rest of the season though. Hopefully y'all win out.

Because of their wildly disrespectful, arrogant, ignorant, and inaccurate assessment of Mercer's Team (see their pre-game comments), I'm sure it helps Tech fans to feel better about their team & themselves to characterize the game as this poster has done, but there's very little, if any, truth in his/her, oh-so-typical (we've seen it since the PFL days), condescending comments above. Doesn't really matter though; Bears went into this game very banged-up, short-handed, and depleted on offense - at ALL position groups (except QB & TE...knock wood). They were really having to 'hunt & peck' out there to manufacture positive plays & 1st Downs. Just couldn't get enough of that done yesterday. That, the successful fake punt, and the blocked FG were the stories of this game. Take the $300k and move on to the next one.

If GT could "score at will" does anyone realistically think the final score would have been 35-10? If that's what happens when you guys "score at will" your going to be in for a long season in the Ay See See.

Trying not to be overly critical of GT. (I thought the stadium workers were great and enjoyed their jobs and very friendly) However, I do wonder why the concessions were so poor. I waited 45 minutes at half to get drinks and water and missed most of the 3rd quarter ( If not for my elderly parents I would have skipped it). The lines were pretty ridiculous. Is this poor planning, poor design (by a GT Engineer) or poor execution? Or all the above?

None of the above. Lines are ridiculous at most stadiums (probably less so at FCS schools), so going at half time is generally a bad idea. Also, the correct spelling of concession is shown in this sentence in addition to my username.
Thanks,

I have been to football games at Samford Stadium, Jordan Hare, Williams Brice, Neyland, and Wallace Wade. I have never seen it that bad. I went early in the 2nd Quarter and the line went from the concession stand all the way out from the underneath section back into the concourse and stairs that led up and out of the stadium. On top of that, it took almost 20 minutes to just get into the stadium at gate 10. The tech fans coming in that gate were just as upset about it as anyone. Maybe it was new procedures this year or something. But it was rough. Also, really, you are going to make a point about spelling to someone probably banging out a comment on their mobile phone. C'mon dude. Don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy.

Because the second string guys played the second half of the game or it could have been out of hand, it's not that hard to understand if you leave your first string guys in the you would have probably scored more. We scored on 5 of 8 drives, and could have been another if it wasn't for the FOURTH string Bback fumbling on the 3 yards line. I would say that's pretty much scoring at will.

That, the successful fake punt, and the blocked FG were the stories of this game. Take the $300k and move on to the next one. There is plenty of truth, GT scored on 5 of 8 drives and should have been 6 but the FOURTH string B back fumbled(I do give props to mercer for pulling it out though) GT did not play its starting QB in the second half of the game at all that's another fact, its not a hit on mercer they came out and played well but we threw for 8 yards per attempt and ran for 7 yards per carry not to mention went 6 for 8 on third down and 1 for 1 on 4th, these are all facts, if you don't call this being able to move or score at will then I don't know what is. Yes we only scored 35 but we only had the ball 8 times minus the drive before the half when we only ran like two plays before the 2nd quarter ended, So please tell me these aren't facts? I wasn't taking hits at mercer at all so idk why you got so defensive, I just stated a few things I even wished y'all good luck did you miss that point? I understand you love your team but don't be blind to the facts.
