So projecting Sanford to win 32-23, or so.
Massey has Sanford rated #26 in FCS & has Mercer at #42. Both Teams are 1-1 with losses to D1 FBS Teams. Mercer’s win came over a D1 FCS Team, while Sanford’s win was over a D2 Team that has not won a single Football game since October 3rd, 2015 and which Massey projects, with about 96% confidence, will not win a single game in 2018 either (seriously).
Both Teams played Teams from Florida last Saturday. Mercer won their game by 42 points. Sanford suffered a DOUBLE-DIGIT LOSS.

Sanford’s #99 won’t be playing in the 1st half vs. Mercer. Apparently he danced himself into a ‘targeting’ disqualification/ejection in the 2nd half @ FSU, so he is OUT vs. Mercer until the 2nd half.
Probably could have been called on this earlier hit (below - different angle of the top Tweet) that Sanford Football proudly Tweeted out, also. Aiming for the QB’s chin with the crown of his helmet by ducking just before contact (watch the SloMo replay closely) seems to be a standard technique.
Most Sanford fans don’t think he will play at all though...because they believe the game will be over by halftime & their Starters will all be dancing on the sidelines in the 2nd half. I believe I saw one of them post or Tweet that Sanford’s Players are saying they are going to “Memphis” Mercer.

Sanford - Sanford vs. Mercer - showing their All-SoCon DE as starting even though he is ‘suspended’ for the 1st half of the Mercer game due to the Targeting Ejection (the ONE that was called) in the 2nd half of Sanford’s DOUBLE-DIGIT LOSS to FSU. Isn't the DOUBLE DIGIT loss where SaMford led most the game quite a bit more impressive than the 66-14 beat-down the Bears took by that powerful Memphis team who lost to Navy this past weekend???

Unrelated. What might be more closely related is... I wonder if a SoCon Team has ever suffered a heartbreaking, close (yet also double-digit) loss to, let’s just say, the Team currently ranked by Massey as #6 in FBS (as opposed to, let’s just say, the Team ranked #44) and followed that up by losing in an upset to another SoCon Team the very next week. I’ll have to rack by wee BearBrain to see if I can recall if that has EVER happened... |

Unrelated Series History The series between Mercer and Sanford dates back to 1907, although it began under a different name of sorts (the school was founded as Howard College and renamed Sanford in 1965).
